I am the queen of lists, but I must admit that I often misplace them. Normally by the time I get to the grocery store, I discover that my grocery list must be sitting on the kitchen counter at home. That's okay: a grocery list I can shop without. But I decided that I needed a pretty little mini legal pad folder to keep with me so that I can keep track of prayer requests. Do you have something that you need a small covered notebook for?
I created a .pdf file for you so that you can make one of these little notebook folders too if you'd like. The mini legal pads are about 5-1/4" x 3-1/2"--smaller than a junior legal pad. (I found them in a three-pack at a superstore.) These are a great size to keep in a purse. Rather than gluing the pad in place, I made two deep pockets, one for loose papers and one for the pad to slide into so that you can put a new pad in when you need to. I used my PaperTrey Everyday Blessings set, along with PaperTrey's Spring Moss and Aqua Mist cardstocks, and the 6" x 6" Everyday Blessings patterned paper pack. Ink was Aqua Mist (PTI) and Ranger's Adirondack Stream ink. I used my Spellbinders Nestability Rectangle and Classic Oval sets to layer the front of the notebook and finished it off with Aqua Mist Satin ribbon and a small aqua Swarovski crystal at the top of the Cross.
On the inside, I simply folded where you see the dotted lines on the pattern, and cut where you see the solid lines. I used a scrap of the patterned paper to cover the top of the mini legal pad so that it would coordinate rather than be a clashing red.
The matching pen is a Pentel RSVP pen from which I unscrewed the top and inserted a rolled piece of Everyday Blessings patterned paper into. (A piece about 3-3/8" x 1" should work. Try rolling it around a small paintbrush to get it cylindrical in shape before you try to insert it.)
I hope that you can find a good use for a little notebook too. Have a great day!
Download file was EDITED to make two dotted lines on the bottom solid lines. Oops--sorry about that! Next, to answer some questions, I started with a standard 8-1/2" x 11" piece of cardstock. From the top of the notepad folder to the bottom edge (flap), it is exactly 8-1/2" . You'll have a little left over on the width though. Finally, some of you have asked where I found this size of notepads; I found them in a three-pack at WalMart, labeled Ampad Mini Legal Pads. Hope this helps!
Several of you have written me saying that you were having a hard
time finding the mini legal pads that I had picked up in a three-pack
at WalMart. I looked
online in several places that were recommended and could never find the
same size. So I e-mailed Ampad and asked about them. Here is the
response: I believe the item you are referring to is
20-398 3.5” x 5.25” 3 pack. Wal-mart no longer
carries this item. I have no other dealers or retailers currently selling this
item. The only way to purchase would be to customer order from a
wholesaler. I would recommend the contacting the following wholesaler and
tell them you would like to custom order Ampad item 20-398. It is highly
possible that this item will be discontinued by Ampad in the very near future. Able Office Supply 800-870-6872
Reader Angie D. Sent me this link for a similarly sized notepad that IS available online; it's a little smaller at 3" x 5", but these might work for you too. Reader Paula also has a source for the 3" x 5" size, manufactured by Tops, and available through www.detroitpencilcompany.com. Reader Donna C says that she bought the mini legal pads in Staples, in *yellow* instead of white, at 3@$1.99. Thanks, Angie, Paula, and Donna!
