Dilly Beans
I am a huge dill pickle fan. Recently at a potluck I saw a dish of pickled green beans--that's odd, I thought, but I tried one anyway. To my delight, they were cold and crisp Dilly Beans! Although I didn't get the recipe that day, I looked up one online last week when I had more green beans coming out of the garden than we could possibly eat fresh. The best thing about Matthew Molus's grandmother's recipe for Dilly Beans (other than the taste) is that you can make a jar or two at a time--simply preserving whatever you can't use fresh.
Having a few jars of Dilly Beans, I needed a cute gift tag so that I could share the love the beans. I thought that I may as well include a recipe card just in case the recipient likes them as much as I do. Two stamps came to mind: my Corn and Beans stamp (Lockhart), and my "From the Kitchen of" stamp (Just Rite Stampers).
I stamped my Corn and Beans image in Tuxedo Black Memento ink and colored it with these Copic markers: G20, G24, YG03, YG63, YG67, Y32, Y35, W2, and o. I used a Copic Airbrush system to airbrush the background with Y35, leaving it in my Spellbinders Long Oval Nestability to mask off the edges.
For the jar top as well as the recipe tab, I used my "From the Kitchen of" border, along with the smallest size (25pt.) of the new Times New Roman font set to spell out my name. Again I airbrushed the background on these and left the edge white. For the recipe folder, I cut my cardstock 5-1/2" wide x 6-1/2" long, then scored and folded it off-centered so that it would look like a folder. I used a circle Nestability to scoop out a space for my little name label to rest in, and I stamped the background in CHF's Bias Stripe Backgrounder with PaperTrey Ink's Spring Moss ink.
If there are any other dill lovers out there who would like a version of this recipe that you can print on cardstock and trim to 6" x 5", then fold at 3" to get a standard 3" x 5" recipe card, here's my adaptation of Matthew's Dilly Beans recipe as a .pdf file. (I added extra seasoning, so it is quite spicy.) Enjoy! Download dilly_beans2.pdf

A couple of announcements: Don't forget to go VOTE for the amazing Just Rite Stampers entries! I saw some of them tonight and was truly wowed. Trust me, you'll want to see them!
Second, in case you haven't heard, Ellen Hutson has started a new blog called the CLASSroom, her official store blog. I am privileged to be one of the bloggers there about once a week. I'm sure that Ellen and her blog team will have some fun and educational posts, along with some great deals. Hope to see you there!
Finally, how about a big hand for my buddy Taylor, whose stamp line is launched today at Taylored Expressions? I have seen the pictures, and I can tell you that Taylor's cupcakes are the sweetest, least fattening cakes around! (I've ordered my first set. . .) {{{A huge congrats, Taylor!}}}

What a great set, Debbie -- I just can't imagine dill pickled green beans!

That is awesome. We did pickles this year like crazy. Mostly bread and butter though. The dills still need some work. We will try again next year, along with some beans. Love your colors for this set. As always, you are such an inspiration. Have a great weekend. -Molly B

I have a very yummy potato soup recipe that calls for dill. At first I was a little apprehensive about it, but it was so yummy and now I make it ALOT in the cooler weather season.
