Snippets Here and There
A good Sunday morning to you! I'm trying to get some work done for next week tonight (Saturday), but I do have a couple of snippets to share that I've just finished for Ellen's blogs in the last couple of days. First, here's a simple card with a Spellbinders die frame--card recipe and details are posted here.
Next, I worked on a mini album for the In Touch newsletter (some favorite Christmas recipes), posted here. (A .pdf of four recipes is posted there as well--end of the fourth paragraph. I sometimes leave out up to 1/2 lb. of the powdered sugar in the coconut bars, adding extra coconut to get it to a workable consistency. My guys don't seem to notice the difference.) I was pleased with the mini album, though I wish I'd gotten a few more spreads finished. All in good time! This project was a challenge for me though: one of the guidelines was to use stamps and cardstock--no patterned papers. . . (I survived, but no doubt sustained some psychological trauma. ;-D)
Here are a couple of little details from there--the front cover with a Kim Hughes snowman, and some of the coconut bars that I made Friday so that I could get a picture for my album. (Don't tell my sweet husband--he thinks I made them just because he loves them, and I love him. He does, and I do, but I needed that picture!)
Edited to add: I'm answering so many e-mails asking for the recipe that I thought I'd just post it here too. Download christmas_recipesdolson.pdf Again, I sometimes leave out half a pound of the powdered sugar and add extra coconut to make it the right consistency. It's still sweet enough for most people that way. Enjoy!
Just a note: This month's In Touch newsletter had a coupon at the bottom of the newsletter, valid November 23 through November 28. If you don't already receive the e-newsletter, you still have time to sign up and take advantage of the coupon code sale if you'd like. The link to sign up is at the bottom of this page, and you don't have to worry about frequent mail or junk mail; In Touch comes out only once a month and always focuses on educational projects.
I hope you have a wonderful Sunday!
Cute card. The mini recipe album is a great idea! I just may have to do one for my daughter.
Those coconut bars look fabulous! Is this a recipe you would be willing to share?
Thanks
Sharon

I love the idea of a mini recipe album and using only cardstock and stamps would really be a challenge. You did a wonderful job! AND if you are willing to share the recipe - I'd love to try that too!

Okay, your work is fabulous as usual, but it really isn't fair to share a picture of those scrumptuous looking coconut bars without sharing the recipe. Would you, please? Thanks, Debbie, for all your inspiration.

Oh Debbie....You crack me up...."he does, I do....but I needed that picture"! That comment made me laugh out loud. But on to the important stuff....your recipe album is so fun and festive! If I had more time, I'd make a bunch up for my family who are coming for the holidays. That would be a fun take home gift.
