Versatility with Sympathy

Ptisympathy1do

Tonight I have a couple of cards to share--almost identical. Both are stamped mostly with the new PaperTrey Ink With Sympathy set that will be released on January 15.  While sympathy cards are cards that we would prefer never to need to make, chances are, you'll need one some time. When you do have to make one, it can be tough to find appropriate sentiments. Nichole has done a great job covering her bases on the sentiments in this set; some (like the one that I used above) can be used for other purposes too, like encouragement in a crisis. To show you the versatility of this set, Nichole asked us to create two cards that were basically identical except for switching out a sentiment from a different set on the second card.

Ptisympathy1dtldo On the first card, I used a sentiment from the With Sympathy set, and on the second I switched out just the sentiment and a couple of accessories, using a sentiment from Out on a Limb Sentiments instead. I kept the backgrounds the same, Versamark ink and Filigree Detail Clear Embossing Powder used with the vine flourish from the With Sympathy set. The sentiments are also heat embossed with detail clear EP after being stamped in Black Brilliance ink (with a touch of Pure Poppy on the I Love You card).  Cardstock is PaperTrey's new black cardstock--heavy and rich. The little glittered butterfly on the sympathy card is also from the sympathy set, stamped with a glue pad on vellum and cut out.

Ptisympswitch1dtldo You'll want to stop by Nichole's blog for a .pdf document of all of our sympathy card sets; Nichole asked us to include our card recipes, as well as tips on creating appropriate sympathy cards. Please be sure to check out what the rest of the PaperTrey team has come up with:

Niki Estes, Nichole, Mish Wooderson, Melissa Phillips, Lisa Johnson, Lauren Meader, Heather Nichols, Geny CassadyDawn McVey, Betsy Veldman, Becky Oehlers

Just lovely and so "understatedly" appropriate Debbie.

16.

Very nice. Both cards are beautiful, simple, yet elegant! Thank you for sharing.

These are exquisite! Love the embossed vine on black. I did a 4-1/4" square card last night. Stamped white pigment on black cs and embossed with a hologram powder. Sent it off in the A-2 envie this morning. Not only did you give me a great idea about the postage, but I must have been getting "shiny on black" vibes from up there, too. Keep up the good work, Debbie!

18.

OMGoodness, this new set is gorgeous, Debbie -- love that flourish background you created! And new black cardstock (faints)! Your cards are so elegant and really show the versatility of these sets -- can't wait to see them all!

These are just lovely!! Clear embossing just really adds an elegant touch. And I love that you showed two similar cards for different occasions... that red set against the black is just so striking!

20.

Beautiful. I, unfortunately, will be needing to make one of these cards soon and I love the black background. I never would have thought of it so thank you.

21.

These are stunning. I haven't done embossing on black and I'm definitely going to try that.

22.

Lovely cards, that paper is a pretty black, so deep, pretty butterfly on the first, lovely embossing on both and the red just pops on the second card!

23.

Debbie,
These cards are loving and supportive - very lovely!!

Take care and STAY POSITIVE!

24.
