Today I'd like to share a fun Father's Day gift and project; I know that Mother's Day hasn't even come yet, but we stampers have to be ahead of the curve, right? When I saw Heather's new All Star Team and Additions sets, I loved the vintage look, but I have to confess that I was puzzled regarding how I would use it since I am not in the least athletic.
I finally settled upon using it to create a card and gift set for my husband for Father's Day. I made a cardstock wallet for which I have attached instructions and printable gift cards. **If the font on the cards does not display correctly for you, go to www.dafont.com and download the FREE Broken Ghost font. If you have it installed on your computer, it should show up fine on the cards.** Download PTI Wallet Instructions_DOlson
To hold my wallet, I used one of Lauren's Timeless Templates, Captured Card Case, and printed it at 80% of its normal size (a function found in most print dialog boxes). There is a bit of room left on either end of the wallet, but it works pretty well.
For my card, I used several of Heather's sentiments pieced together, along with the word "Dad" from the Pond Life set. The leather effect is from a Fiskars Critters/Leather double-sided Texture Plate. I use these in my Wizard. A texture plate cannot give you the depth of texture that an embossing folder can since it has only one side, but you can really improve the textural effect by using PaperGlide or a similar product to dampen the paper before you try to texturize it. I rubbed some Vintage Photo Distress ink on top of the dark chocolate paper to enhance the leather look.
