All About You 2

I had mentioned in an earlier blog post having another All About You card for the June Papertrey Ink release. This one is made with All About You Additions, stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento ink and colored with the Copic markers shown below.

I used Heather's new Library Ledger papers, and Aqua Mist Vintage Button, and a Large Scalloped Border die to cut the ivory patterned piece and its Aqua Mist mat.

Cardstock colors are Vintage Cream and Aqua Mist. I used an Aqua Mist Vintage Button and some Rustic Twine to finish up the details, as well as some pale aqua self-adhesive pearls in the centers of the scallops. The bee's wings have Prisma Glitter adhered by a glue pen. Finished size is 5-1/4", sized to fit Papertrey's Large Square envelopes. I liked how this little card turned out. Happy Day

Today I wanted to color flowers, so I pulled out my Year of Flowers: Violets stamp set. Besides violets and pansies, they also remind me just a bit of an old fashioned wild rose, except for having more rounded leaves instead of the somewhat serrated leaf that a rose usually has. 

Papers are from the Girls Paperie, Paper Girl Vintage Patchwork paper. I used a Spellbinders Labels Eight die to cut a sheet of the rose pattern and a Hibiscus Burst mat for it. Card base is also Hibiscus Burst (Papertrey Ink).

Ribbon is May Arts pink silk. and pearl flourish is a Zva Creative flourish (PEB-03CA-113). I cut the flourish apart to make it work just right with my image, and I still have enough of the flourish left to use on a second card.

I used way too many Copic markers (mostly Papertrey Copic Trios) to color this image--it was one of those "decide as you go" projects. Better planning would have cut down on the number of markers that I needed.

A little bit of random sewing around the edges, and a bit of distressing on the edges, and that's it--one shabby wild rose card to go.  Thanks for stopping by!

Flutterby Butterfly

Welcome! Today I have a bright, happy Flutterby Friends card to share with you.  This card didn't start in my mind as a clear card, but when I saw the pieces sitting on my desk awaiting a card base, a clear card base seemed to be the perfect solution.

For background papers, I printed paper from Dawn's June 2010 Volume 5 Color Couture download. Getting a picture of a clear card is tricky, but this really is some fun paper! (I printed it on matte white, high resolution inkjet paper, on an inexpensive Canon inkjet printer.) 

The Copic markers that I colored the butterfly image with are shown below. The rhinestone swirl is from Zva Creative (CRW-02CA-106), and ribbon is Papertrey Ink Raspberry Fizz Satin, scrunched on Scor-Tape. I used two Spellbinders dies on the focal image, a Plain Circle Nestability, a Petite Scalloped Circle Nestability, and then glittered the raised butterfly with Prisma Glitter and a glue pen.

June Papertrey Ink Release, Part 2

On with more June Papertrey Ink release pieces. . . For Heather's Library Ledger set, I finally got around to a little home schooling project that I'd been meaning to make for a couple of years, a book list of what we've read together. This one is for this past school year only, so I'm still a few years behind. 

I die-cut several tags from the rustic white cardstock and then stamped the library ledger on them. I used three headings, one for the books that my son read for school this year, one for the ones that we read aloud as a family, and one for the ones that he read for fun. I then stamped the date of the month in which we read the book, as well as writing its title. I used a 1-3/4" circle punch and two new Papertrey Ink label dies on the cover. The "Books Read" sentiment is from the Take Note stamp set, selectively stamped and realigned. (The stamp says "Books to Read.)

Next, while I'm mentioning die cuts, I used the same die on my Night Night Moon card. Its background is stamped on Lemon Tart cardstock with Summer Sun ink. I used some pure white twill from my stash because the texture reminded me of cloth diapers. 

 

How about an All About You card? I enjoyed this set as well. I have another card almost ready to post using this set, but it has a completely different, slightly vintage homespun feel. Whether you enjoy solid stamping or coloring, this set has both and is fun to play with!

I raised the little bee on a piece of foam tape and glittered its wings with a glue pen and Prisma Glitter. I'll try to have my next All About You card up in the next couple of days.

June Papertrey Ink Release, Part 1

 

Hi, everybody! I'm posting my June Papertrey Ink pieces in a couple of posts tonight--will be back as soon as possible with part 2. . .

I *loved* the Tea for Two Additions set! The framed piece above  uses the teacups from Tea for Two, along with a sentiment from its companion predecessor, Tea for Two. Papers are from October Afternoon's Fly a Kite line. Inks used were Chartreuse, Hawaiian Shores, Hibiscus Burst, Summer Sun, and with Raspberry Fizz for the sentiment. I hand-cut the little banner that the sentiment is on. Button and twine are also from Papertrey Ink.

I used Spellbinders Classic Nestability Squares to cut and emboss my teacup square. Ribbon is Hawaiian Shores grosgrain and some natural twill from my stash.

Next up is a simple card from the Flutterby Friend set. (I have another card to share from that set as well, but iI still need to take pictures.) I used a Canvas Linen Impression plate on Lavender Moon cardstock for the background. My image is stamped in Memento Rich Cocoa ink and colored with Copic Markers, then die-cut and embossed with a Spellbinders Long Rectangle die. The sentiment is stamped in Plum Pudding ink and die cut with a Spellbinders Double Ended Tags die. 

I have always loved the Year of Flowers sets, and Year of Flowers: Roses is no exception. I stamped the rose on some Webster's Pages Lullaby Lane paper in Versamark and heat embossed it with Filigree detail white embossing powder before adding a bit of shading with some Copic markers. (I worked up to the line and did not color on top of the line since Copic markers tend to dissolve all embossing powders except clear.) Ribbon is white silk from Papertrey ink, and pearl swirl is from  Zva Creative (PE-03CA-112).

Friendship Jar

  

Welcome to this month's Papertrey Ink group post! I was tickled pink to see the Friendship Jar set that Nichole and Mish collaborated on--that jar is so sweet that I know I'll be using it for more projects soon! Do you have a friend who makes good biscuits? Being a displaced Southerner, I like good biscuits. While we were on vacation recently, my sister-in-law and brother-in-law made biscuits one night. My ten-year-old ate six of them. Six. . .wow. 

When I saw the Friendship Jar set, I knew that it would be perfect for a gift of jams and jellies. I wish these were homemade, but Susie Homemaker has deserted me this month--no time. That's okay--Smuckers to the rescue!

Here is my gift card, sized 3-1/2" x 5"  to fit the Papertrey A-1 envelopes. I used some papers from the Cosmo Cricket Garden Garden Variety Mini Deck, as well as Papertrey's Vintage Buttons and Rustic Twine. How about that Orange Marmalade? I colored the base with Copic markers, Y32 and Y35, and then I used Orange Zest and Summer Sun ink to stamp oranges from the Fruitful set. (Friendship Jar Fillers, the companion set, has a sweet little orange half that I totally spaced and didn't see when I was looking for one, however I would have had to color in the orange halves with it rather than stamping them solid--either one is lovely, but I wanted to let you know that there *is* another one. :-})

 

I had fun with the jar labels. I didn't want to peel the Smuckers label off, so I used a couple of dies (Mat Stack 1 and 2), a 1-3/4" circle punch, patterned paper, and stamped images (fruits are from the Fruitful set, and dotted circles are from the Take Note set). The layered labels, paired with some PTI Vintage Buttons and Rustic Twine, covered the labels just enough.

Cosmo Cricket meets Purple Cow

Welcome! I'm in Grand Rapids to teach a Copic Certification class this weekend, but I had a couple of posts that were ready to go. 

One of Cosmo Cricket's product partner companies is Purple Cow, makers of Purple Cow trimmers, among other things. Several of us were able to play with out trimmers for this week's Cosmo Cricket blog post, and I thought I'd share my card (and variation) here just in case you hadn't made it to the Cosmo Cricket blog yet.

 

I cut my card base to 5-1/2" x 10-1/4", scoring it at 4-1/4" and using the perforating blade at 8-1/2" to create a little attached bookmark that folds over on top of my card but can easily be removed by the card recipient. (Actually, I went back and shaved a hair off of the end 4-1/4" panel so that the bookmark would fold over without bending the edge of the card front.)

Here is my finished card front with the bookmark panel wrapped around on top of the card base. The ribbon slides off since it is wrapped around the whole card.

I wasn't totally satisfied with the layout, so I redid it with a little tweaking. On the first version, I had used a JustRite Seeds of Kindness 1-5/8" center as my flower center. It seemed a bit too big, so I used a button in version number 2, and used a little sentiment from the Custom Design Cardmaking Kit set toward the base of the flower. I think I like this one better, though it doesn't have an easily removable bookmark any more.

Paper is DeLovely, felt and button are Papertrey Ink, and dies are Spellbinders (Label), Papertrey Ink (Rick Rack), and Sizzix (flower.)

Birthday Balloons

Welcome! Today I have a birthday card to share. I'm headed down to Grand Rapids later this week to teach a Copic Certification class Saturday, and I needed a birthday card to take with me. I chose Papertrey Ink's Up, Up, and Away set for my focal image, along with a couple of PTI background sets,Distressed Stripes and Background Basics Geometrics.

 Cardstock colors are Stampers Select White, Raspberry Fizz, Aqua Mist, Kraft, and Chocolate Chip. I used a Spellbinders Labels Four die for the background, airbrushing sky with a Copic BG13 marker before removing the die from the cardstock. Other dies are Papertrey Ink, the Up, Up, and Away die and the medium scalloped border die. I've been trying to figure out what to do with ribbon besides always tying big bows. . . This random scrunchiness stuff is challenging me, obviously! I used 1/4" Scor-Tape as a base, placing the ribbon on it first and then removing the backer to attach the ribbon to the card front. This was my first try; I had a better one later, but it was used on another card--upcoming. :-) Buttons are all Papertrey Ink Vintage Buttons.

How about an elegant little birthday card and a giveaway tonight? I suppose that it could just as well be an anniversary or wedding card, depending upon what you stamped inside. I started with some more of the lovely October Afternoon Thrift Shop papers and three stamp sets--JustRite's new 1-5/8" Birthday Centers Round and a 2" border from my Decorative 2" Round Wide Borders set, as well as a Waltzingmouse Stamps Very Vintage Labels Number 5. I couldn't believe how nicely the two borders coordinated, a match made in heaven!

I used Papertrey Ink's Pure Poppy ink and Versamagic Mango Madness ink, as well as some distress ink on the cream cardstock edges. Three Spellbinders die sets were used: a Plain Classic Circle Nestability, a Labels Five die, and a Classic Scalloped Border Petites set. 

 For the little ribbon rose I just twisted, wrapped, and hand-tacked some of the wrinkled seam binding; I'm still loving to play with different textures for accents!

On the giveaway front, I have a couple of JustRite sets for someone out there! First is the new Birthday Centers 1-5/8" Round set that I used, and second is a Decorative 2" Round Wide Borders set (the red border above).
