Welcome! This is my last day on the JustRite October release projects, but O Christmas Tree may be my favorite of the JRS October release sets yet. I love the tree image shown above because it has so many of my favorite carols. It's also great that the trees can be easily cut and embossed with my Spellbinders Nested Pennants set (S5-028). I used the Nested Lacey Pennants (S5-029) set to cut the red mat layer behind the tree.
I'm thinking that the smaller trees would make great little banners across cards as well--I'll have to try that one later. The two stars can be cut and embossed with the smallest star in the Just Rite tags die template set. (I cut the base star with the die, and hand-cut the top one.)
Now, for a couple of inking details: I got the best impression on the fine lines when I used chalk inks. I used three: Versamagic Red Magic (Tsukineko), and Powderpuff Green with Envy and Green Tea (Quick Quotes). I knew that I wanted variety in the line colors, and I had first tried to use a water-based marker to selectively ink. However I was losing some of the detail type when i inked with markers. The chalk inks worked much better. I inked both greens on the same layer, and then stamped a second tree in red. Next I die cut and embossed both trees and cut out strips of the red tree to glue onto the green tree. Patterned papers are Echo Park Season's Greetings 6" x 6" pad. Cardstock is PTI Vintage Cream and Pure Poppy. Buttons are also PTI--Pure Poppy vintage buttons
There are some beautiful projects using the O Christmas Tree cling set--be sure to check them out, and thank you for stopping by!
