Tonight I thought I'd play with another of the Card Positioning Systems sketches, Sketch 30. (If you haven't checked out the CPS site yet, you should! It really speeds up the design process when some of the decisions, such as a basic layout, are already made for you.)
I made a couple of cards that are different in style, but both fit easily into their basic sketch. For the first, I used SU's True Friend stamp set and Apple Cider designer paper. I stamped the circle image in Really Rust ink, and I punched it with my SU 1-1/4" circle punch; then I matted it in Chocolate Chip card stock with my 1-3/8" SU circle punch. I couldn't decide quite where to fit words in, as busy as the background paper was, so I added a bit of bling with some Jonquil Swarovski crystals. (I have to confess that I'm still itching to add a ribbon or something! But until just the right thing occurs to me, I won't mess with it.)
For the second card, I chose a fun little Rubber Soul set, Holiday Whimsical 3010. I wanted this set mostly for this snowman! The bird's eye point-of-view sets him apart from the rest of the snowmen in my Northern Michigan collection. Ü I stamped him in Black Brilliance ink on PaperTrey Stamper's Select White card stock, then used a 1-1/2" circle punch to punch him out. I used an orange marker to color just his carrot nose and stamp it on a scrap so that I could trim it and glue it on top of the black nose. Next I used my Sakura Black Gelly roll pen to get a very shiny black look on his top hat, eyes, and pipe. See those little satin ribbons? They are supposed to be scarves. (Okay, maybe you have to use your imagination!) I got 25 yards of 1/8" white satin ribbon for $3 here, and I just color it with my Copic markers, in this case G28, B23, and R29. The designer paper is Memory Box, Snow Collection. I used some 1/4" wide red line tape across my paper seam and dumped some SU Dazzling Diamonds glitter on that line. I laid my snowmen in place to see where I needed to stamp my snowmen arms on the base, then I attached the snowmen with some foam tape to add a little more dimension.
