My eagerly anticipated Technique Junkies Newsletter arrived this past Saturday, so it seemed like the perfect occasion to pull out my SU Star-Studded Season set for its trial run. I tried Pat's bonus October online bonus, the Double-Pocket tutorial. First, a disclaimer: I am hopelessly motion-card and fold-card challenged. (And I was always the playground klutz too.) But I tried this card anyway, simply because so many people said that it worked like a charm for them. I at least had the good sense to try it on a truly ugly sheet of paper until I figured it out! (It took me about fifteen minutes--not bad for my degree of fold-impairedness.)
I used my SU Dashing double-sided paper, along with River Rock classic ink and Real Red craft ink. (Don't ask. Real Red classic and I have issues.) The only non-SU stamp that I used was one of the PaperTrey Borders and Corners {Rectangle} stamp to go around the "Wishing You" sentiment; I liked the way the dots framed the sentiment and tied in with the dots on the Dasher paper.
In view two, I put the inserts behind the pocket so that you could see the double pocket. My version is slightly smaller than A-2 size since my piece of designer paper was only 10" long. (I trimmed it to about 7-1/2" in the other direction in order to keep the proportions the same.) Instead of taping my loose edges, I zig-zagged on the sewing machine. If I were making many of these, I would probably simply use red-line tape, but I liked the look that the stitching gave. View three shows the inserts in mailing position.
You should check out Pat's blog if you haven't already; besides having lovely work, Pat has giveaways every day for the entire month of October to celebrate the fifth anniversary of her newsletter. Thanks, Pat, for another cool fold!
