Tonight's card is atypical for me, but I had fun with it. It started out to be a challenge card for a contest on the Prism Papers blog, but (yadda, yadda) I didn't finish in time to enter. The challenge was to draw inspiration from the provided photo and create a card from it. I chose to focus on the colors, the squares, and the linear look. I used my new SU Kind Thoughts set, along with a sentiment from PaperTrey's Mixed Messages.
Prism Paper Colors are Twilight Dark and Medium and Papaya Puree Dark and Medium, along with white. I used SU classic inks in Brocade blue, Bashful Blue, Apricot Appeal, and Pumpkin Pie. The sentiment is stamped in a Clearsnap chalk ink, Blue Iris. I used some SU grosgrain, but I modified its color with a W-2 Copic Marker to gray it down a bit to coordinate better with the cardstock.
I stamped the butterfly images in white craft ink on squares that I cut and embossed with my Spellbinders Nestability Classic Square dies. Finally I trimmed the butterflies and mounted them with foam tape. They started out in the centers of the squares, turned at different angles, but they seemed to need more movement, hence the positioning that I chose.
