Today I get to share with you a sneak peek of one of the new PaperTrey sets, and tonight at 12:00am EST is the BIG reveal! I chose to use the new egg boxes along with the Just Hatched stamp set. I covered my box with paper from Daisy D's Lullaby Collection, and I incorporated the new PaperTrey Spring Moss satin ribbon to tie the box shut. The satin ribbon ties beautifully--you're going to love it!
To cover the lid, I first measured the box top, then I added in the depth of the top's sides to get a measurement for my polka-dotted piece of paper. I used Tombo Mono Multi Adhesive to adhere the paper just to the top, then I trimmed the paper corners so that I could fold and glue them neatly, going just to the lower edges of the lid. I then used a piece of sandpaper to scuff the bottom edge and give it a finished look. I wrapped one decorative strip around the top to add visual interest and tie the top in with the box bottom. (I also covered the inside of the box lid.)
To cover the box sides, I put the lid in place, then measured from the bottom lip of the lid to the base of the box. I cut my 12" x 12" patterned paper into two strips and covered one short and one long side with each strip, trimming only the second strip to prevent overlapping. (I covered only up to the bottom of the lid so that the paper wouldn't be damaged as the lid is put on and lifted off.)
To make the label, I stamped the Just Hatched label in Versafine Olympia Green Ink, then used my Spellbinders Oval Nestabilities, both plain and scalloped to make my label. I added some Hero Arts clear Rhinestones to each of the scallops in to tie in with the elegance of the Just Hatched label.
The real challenge was to find something that I loved that would be perfect for my box; when I found a set of ceramic eggs, I knew that they were box-worthy. I painted the egg holder insert with a spring green paint and used raffia to make a nest for the eggs.
This was such a fun project. I can't wait to see what others do with these fabulous egg boxes!
