I've had this darling little Lockhart Organic Carrots stamp for a couple of weeks and had just been too busy to play with it--until tonight. I thought I'd try a quick card, combining it with some of my Cosmo Cricket Honey Pie papers from their 8" x 8" pad. First I stamped the carrots in Adirondack Pitch Black, then I colored them in the Copic colors pictured. The quick part? Picking marker colors--I chose my paper first and then simply let it decide the marker colors.
I used a Spellbinders Nestability Plain Rectangle Die to cut and emboss the focal panel, then I aged it a bit with Antique Linen Distress ink to coordinate better with the worn look of the paper. Finished card size is 3-1/2" x 5", fitting a small notecard envelope. Speaking of envelopes, I thought I'd get some inchie-practice in, since I'll be needing it later this week! I have a template that I cut from cardstock so that I can look at parts of stamped images to see what composition pleases me. (I think Sharon Harnist showed one of these on her blog not too long ago. Mine's back in my archives somewhere. . .) Anyway, I knew that the cardstock template would be too thick to get a cleanly stamped image if I stamped inside it. So I made a new template from Eclipse tape and just inked my whole stamp and stamped right on top of the mask. It worked pretty well, though a black line drawn around it might have helped a bit. I'd have to try it to see, and it's getting too late for experimentation tonight. The "You brighten my day" sentiment is from Verve Visual's Thoughtful Florals set; I love Julee's little one-liner sentiments. Thanks for visiting; you brightened my day!
