"Thinking Outside the Tin" Challenge: Birthday Card Candy
I have a fun project for you tonight! Our PaperTrey DT Challenge for this month was to do something creative with a clear-topped tin (a nugget tin). I decided to use mine for candy--non-caloric candy that five out of five dentists surveyed could recommend! I used a variety of PTI sets on this one including: Birthday Basics; Boxes, Bags, and Tags; Trajan Monogram Edition; Simple Alphabet; and It's a Celebration.
I first covered the inside of my tin with paper from the Pink Prints 6" x 6" pad and a piece of acetate that some clear stamps had come attached to. I then used Berry Sorbet, Spring Moss, and Sweet Blush (PTI), as well as Always Artichoke (SU), and white Staz-On inks. Cardstock was Stamper's Select White, Sweet Blush, and Spring Moss. Clear rhinestones are by Hero Arts, and the tag and ribbon slider dies are all my new Spellbinders dies--woohoo! (I listed the dies individually at the bottom of the post under Tools.)
I layered most of the little images on tag bases using foam tape. If you included a set of plain white small notecards or 3" x 3" cards and designer paper cut to size, this could make a nice little do-it-yourself birthday card kit. There is room in the box under the acetate layer for probably four to six small notecards and envelopes. For the birthday sentiments that are ribbon sliders, I included enough ribbon to wrap around a card base and tie. I stamped the top window of the tin with some white Staz-On ink just to add more interest and birthday flair. I used a strip of the pink prints floral print to wrap around the outer edge of the lid, and a length of Spring Moss Twill to wrap around the bottom of the tin, attaching both with redline tape. My only caveat: it might be better to use a waxy paper if you are going to peel the foam tape backing off and stick these in the case, because the foam tape holds very well on the acetate sheets that stamps come on.
I hope that you'll get a chance to go check out what the other challengers came up with; I haven't seen the others projects yet, but from what I've heard, they are going to be amazing! Thanks for visiting.
