Today I played with a few Kim Hughes sets from Cornish Heritage Farms--U R A Hoot, the Landing Pad, and the new Mocha Chica. I had meant to use Kim's new Mocha Chica papers, but I was in a stampy mood, having used patterned papers for some other projects over the past couple of days.
This birdie's blue because he's "missing you!" I won't even tell you how long I fiddled with this little 4-1/4" square card. . . I tried a shrink plastic tree in the distance, without success, obviously. In the end, I decided that the bird he's missing could be out of sight. (See, sometimes avoidance IS the best solution!)
The sky background is white cardstock, airbrushed in places with a Copic BG15 marker and airbrush system. The tree branch is the solid one from the Landing Pad, inked in Vintage Sepia Versafine and kissed to the CHF Montana Bark Backgrounder before being stamped on PaperTrey Ink's Kraft cardstock. The grass is PaperTrey's Spring Moss, freehand cut with scissors into a curve, then zig-zag stitched to the sky background.
The "missing you" sentiment is from U R A Hoot, though I left off the "Owl be" since I used a bird from Mocha Chica rather than an owl. (Now you can see why I took embarrassingly long to make the card, right?) Leaves are stamped in Memento brown, then colored with Copic markers, all of which are shown on the left.
The tag is cut with a Spellbinders Ribbon Tags Trio die, then trimmed to fit. Buttons are both Foof-a-La and Buttons Galore. Now that I've finished this card, I could make it again in 15 minutes, probably. It's just that first go-around when you aren't sure where you're headed that makes something small take an inordinate amount of time.
I hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend!
