Today the PaperTrey Ink team has an early Christmas project that we're all hoping will be a "holiday jumpstart" to help you think through your plans. Nichole challenged us to create a card and a gift, not necessarily a stamped gift, but just a gift that we might give during the holidays. I had all sorts of ideas, but when it came right down to the deadline, food won out. . . Who'd have guessed?
I started with the card, made using PTI's new Tree Trimming Trio set [to be released at midnight on September 15]. I especially love the swirly tree in this set! Cardstock is Sweet Blush, Aqua Mist, and Vintage Cream. Buttons are PTI Vintage buttons, and ribbon is Aqua Mist Grosgrain. I also used Dawn's Signature Christmas set, as well as Fancy Flourishes. (Yes, I love how Nichole built in the tree swirls to coordinate with the Fancy Flourishes background set!)
For a sweet treat, I chose this Cream Cheese Pound Cake. Oh, my. . . scrumptious! One word of warning: don't count the calories. Trust me--you don't want to know. I used a strip of the same Sweet Blush cardstock to create a cake band and added Aqua Mist ribbon, a vintage Sweet Blush button, and a tag. That's it--simple! One word on the cake: rather than making a large cake, I made four small ones in loaf pans. It made me feel better about having used three sticks of butter and an 8 oz. package of cream cheese. ;-} Obviously, cooking time had to be adjusted down significantly.
Be sure to make the PTI rounds. I'm expecting a lot of fabulous gift and card ideas!
