Sending You a Bucketful of Kisses

 

You've got to love that 50% off candy right after Christmas--especially the candy that is in Valentine's colors too!  When I found a bag of Cherry Cordial Hershey's Kisses, I immediately thought of this sentiment from the JustRite Stampers Loving Thoughts 1-5/8" centers : "Sending you a Bucket full of Kisses."  

Paired with paper and striped grosgrain ribbon from Cosmo Cricket's Jolly by Golly line (Sweater Weather), and some PaperTrey Ink Vintage Buttons and small paint can, my post-Christmas find works as a Valentine's treat. (You're not allowed to ask if it actually lasts that long here. I probably won't even try to wait; I'll just take it up to my guys now rather than let it sit in here taunting me while I work!)

I used a Spellbinders Deckled Scalloped Edge Borderability to cut the paper on the bottom of the paint can, and both Plain and Classic Scalloped Circle Nestabilities to cut the sentiments and mats. Ink is PTI's Raspberry Fizz.

Both the JustRite Stampers Loving Thoughts 1-5/8" centers  and the Romantic Sentiments Centers start shipping on January 4. 

Now I have to share a funny story: besides the cherry kisses, I also bought a big bag of red and green M&M's and asked my husband and son, "Please don't get into these until I have a chance to sort out some red ones for a Valentine's post." Then my son got this worried look--why? He was thinking ahead to St. Patrick's Day and wondering if the M&M's were ever going to be fair game! It's a tough life when your Mom needs blog fodder. ;-)

Love in the Air Clear Card

I have another Tiny Treats Valentine card to share with you tonight, a clear card; these are tough to photograph well, so you might have to use your imagination a bit!  I paired the plane image from Tiny Treats Valentine with Mischievous Max paper from Cosmo Cricket's Lil' Man Collection--a perfect match!

I used PaperTrey Ink's Clearly Creative Cardstock, along with Pure Poppy and Terracotta Tile cardstock, as well as Aqua Mist Grosgrain ribbon and Orange Zest Vintage  Buttons. 

The image was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with these Copic markers: 0, BG11, YR12, YR15, and YR18 (PTI's Terracotta Tile Trio), T1, and R24. I also used a Spica Lipstick Red glitter pen on the heart, and the clear glitter pen on the propeller. On the inside (behind the plane), I stamped "be mine" from Simple Valentine. 

I love playing with clear cards!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year: CPS Sketch of Choice

This is it--the last CPS Sketch of 2009! We were asked to chose one of our favorite sketches from the past 147. I chose Sketch 125 to pair with a JustRite Stampers Christmas Joy Borders and Centers Oval, along with the 1-3/4" x 2-5/16" Small Oval Wooden Stamper. 

I stamped the border and center in Versamark ink on watercolor paper and heat embossed with Filigree Detail Gold Embossing Powder. Then I watercolored the image with a waterbrush and watercolor crayons. (Okay, I confess: when it dried, it looked a bit washed out, so I used my Copic markers to add a tiny bit of depth on top of the watercolor.)

I cut and embossed the image with a Spellbinders Classic Oval Nestability and then edged it with a gold metallic paint pen. Papers are Comfort and Celebrate from the My Mind's Eye Coastal Laundry Line Collection. Ribbon is May Arts Ivory Silk, and cardstock is PaperTrey Ink Gold Shimmer and Vintage Cream.

Noel Mitten Kitten

I keep finding cards here and there that I haven't posted anywhere yet, so I'll toss them up just in case anyone out there isn't cooking, wrapping, rushing, etc. This little Lockhart stamp is called Mitten Kitten Star. I colored it with that huge bundle of Copic markers pictured below, and then die cut the image with a Spellbinders Classic Oval Nestability. 

For paper, I wanted something old fashioned and traditional, so I chose some Cosmo Cricket Oh Joy paper, Mitten, Mitten.Ribbon is 3/4" natural twill, while the tag is stamped with a PaperTrey Ink set, Holiday Tree. Button is a PTI Pure Poppy Vintage Button. I accented the centers of the stars on the focal image and the centers of the snowflakes on the paper with some Icicle Stickles.

Happiness is. . .

 
"Happiness is being married to your best friend"--what a nice sentiment for an anniversary card! On the card I've used a center from JustRite Stampers, the 1-5/8" Loving Thoughts centers, paired with one of the November Releases, 2" Square Decorative Frames, and a 2" Square Wood Stamper. One of the really neat things about the new set is that it coordinates with both the 2" Round and Square borders--versatility. 

The coordinating heart tin is one of the small heart tins from PaperTrey Ink. The tag on the heart tin is from another new 1-5/8" center, Romantic Sentiments. Since the tin was so small, I opted to use just a center with no border. That little paper rose on top was an experiment with trying to create the paper or cloth flowers shown on this post by special Guest Blogger Tia Bennett on the Creating Keepsakes Blog. (Thanks, Tia!)

 
Shown here is a picture of the  Loving Thoughts set paired with the 2" Square Decorative Frames, though if you enlarge it and see the light gray lines, you can see how it would also fit with the 2" Round borders.  Below it is the new Romantic Sentiments set, pictured with the already released 2" Round Wide Borders.

The images were stamped in both PaperTrey Ink Terra Cotta Tile ink and True Black ink on their Rustic White cardstock (hence the flecks). Rhinestones are Hero Arts Gemstones. Cardstock is PaperTrey's Smokey Shadow, and patterned papers are from Cosmo Cricket's Everafter line (Something New and Something Blue). Finished size of my card is 4-1/4" square. I used Spellbinders Square Nestabilties to cut my center and border.

Wishing You: CPS147

Welcome! For this week's CPS Sketch 147, Tami gave us a round base with a rectangle and one accessory on the right corner of the rectangle. I chose a tree and sentiment from PaperTrey Ink's Tree Trimming Trio. Patterned paper is called Wrapping Paper, from the Cosmo Cricket Oh Joy Collection.  

Cardstock is PTI Vintage Cream. I used three Spellbinders dies here: a Petite Scalloped Circle Nestability die for the card base, a plain circle Nestability for the patterned card front, and a Labels Trio die for the sentiment. Buttons are PTI's Vintage Pure Poppy. (I picked some of the darker red ones from my Pure Poppy bag.) Ink is PTI Dark Chocolate and Summer Sunrise, Memento Bamboo Leaves, and PTI Chamomile Vintage Distress Cube. I also added a touch of Icicle Stickles on the tree's star.

I have some cards posted today on the CLASSroom blog using a kit from Hero Arts including two of their new release stamps. Since this was a kit, I tried to stick pretty closely to the directions--think stamping workshop!--but I gave it a little twist of my own. Several of the other designers have posted cards using their HA kits on the CLASSroom as well. I'm excited that Ellen is going to be carrying more of the Hero Arts stamps. Jennifer McGuire is the sweetest, and Hero Arts has fabulous product line too!

Good Things Come in Small Packages

How about another Holiday Button Bits card tonight?  I still had a few scraps of this My Mind's Eye Be Merry paper (which is no longer available unless you get lucky and find some still in stock somewhere), and I was determined to use every last scrap!

I inked my HBB ribbon in Scarlet Jewel ink first, and then in Pure Poppy, (inking twice, but stamping only once) to get just the right shade of red. Button is a PaperTrey Spring Rain Vintage Button, and cardstock is Vintage Cream and Pure Poppy.

This weekend I have GOT to get some cards addressed and cooking done. Does anyone else need an extra week, off the calendar, of course, in order to actually be ready for Christmas? Sheesh!

Jolly by Golly Rub-On Ornament

I have a little ornament to share with you today; I found some clear glass bulbs that I had bought a year or two ago and remembered that I had a package of Cosmo Cricket Jolly by Golly Rub-Ons in my stash, as well as some artificial snow.

I cleaned the ornament thoroughly before trying to use the rub-ons; fingerprints may keep the rub-on from sticking just right. Next I cut the rub-ons apart into smaller pieces so that they would be easier to handle and so that I wouldn't risk getting tiny flecks of rub-ons where I didn't want then. Here you an see that I've already attached the greenery and berries at the top, and I'm working of placement for the mittens. I started rubbing in the center and worked my way out in either direction.

Here I have made a funnel out of scrap paper and am partially filling the ornament with Buffalo Snow. I filled it just high enough that the snowman rub-on would look like he was standing on snow.

This was a really simple project; my only question on it is how I will store it to keep the rub-ons from getting damaged. I was thinking about lining a box with wax paper. Any other ideas out there?

Love is in the Air Notepad

Tonight I have a little notepad to share with you; this was one of the Valentine treats that I had played with before happening upon the bubble gum packages for the airplanes treats. I used PaperTrey's new Simple Valentine paper and Pure Poppy cardstock to cover a white notepad, and then stamped the plane image from Tiny Treats: Valentine. 

I colored the image with Copic markers and stamped the label shape around it in both Hibiscus burst, and a second time in Pure Poppy. I trimmed closely around the Hibiscus Burst frame and mounted it with foam tape on the Pure Poppy frame, adding PTI Vintage Buttons as well.Ribbon is Hibiscus Burst Narrow Dotted Satin.

My PaperTrey Ink pen from Summer CHA went perfectly with this little notebook--good thing I had a few extras!  Well, it's not chocolate, but it's a fun non-caloric Valentine treat anyway. ;-}  Thanks for visiting!

PaperTrey Ink December Release Projects

 

In the middle of the Christmas bustle, it's time to move ahead with new seasonal sets; we paper crafters have to think ahead! For my first PaperTrey Ink December Release project, I'd like to share a covered heart tin made with Simple Valentine patterned paper and the Blooming Button Bits set. You know how much I love my buttons! I covered the tin easily using the same method that I shared on this archived post. 

Ink colors are Spring Moss, Hibiscus Burst, and Pure Poppy. Buttons are Hibiscus Burst, and grosgrain ribbon is also Hibiscus Burst. I used a Spellbinders Tags Trio die to cut and emboss the tag. Those dark chocolate covered cookies are mint oreos--yum!

Next I have a card made with Heather's Simple Valentine set, also using Hibiscus Burst cardstock.; Ink is Hibiscus Burst on the white cardstock and Raspberry Fizz on the Hibiscus Burst cardstock. By the way, every image on that background is from the Simple Valentine set; it has a ton of background possibilities! I also used the Vintage Labels set to frame the hearts and filled the outline heart with Prisma Glitter. Ribbon is Hibiscus Burst Saddle-Stitched Grosgrain. Simple Valentines is such a sweet, classic set! 

One last card for today: for this card I used Dawn's new Say it with Style set. Dawn definitely has a way with type! I wanted to make a masculine birthday card. Pairing the Happy Birthday sentiment from Say It with Style with some Turning a New Leaf papers, I have a simple card. Accessories are PaperTrey Vintage Buttons, Natural Rustic Twine, and Dark Chocolate Saddle Stitched Grosgrain.

Merry and Bright: CPS146

Welcome! Today I have a CPS Sketch 146 card to share with you. This one was a bit challenging simply because of the number of layer involved, so I knew that I would want to use coordinating patterned papers to keep all of those layers looking good together. I chose Heather's Rustic Snowflakes papers, as well as the PaperTrey Ink Holiday Button Bits set. The strings are embossed with Filigree Detail Silver embossing powder, and buttons are PaperTrey Ink Vintage Buttons. Ribbon is Pure Poppy Grosgrain.
