Today's PaperTrey Ink team post is a bit out of the ordinary for December 12--a Valentines treat post! I adore the tiny line images in the new Tiny Treats set--perfect for coloring, but small enough that it's quick to color. Benjamin and I searched three stores for a treat that I could use for a Valentines post while Rick waited patiently in the van. (He deserves a medal for that). It's a little hard to find cool Valentines alterables or treats in mid-December. When Rick suggested stopping at the local dollar store, I didn't have a great deal of hope. But that was where I found these little packs of Bubblicious Bubble Gum, four packs for $1--now that's my kind of treat, especially when I realized that ALL four of the package colors were PaperTrey Ink colors: Hibiscus Burst, New Leaf, Terra Cotta, and Pure Poppy!
I chose the little airplane image for my treat set. While brainstorming over potential airplane treats with me, my mother-in-law mentioned making planes from Tootsie Rolls, Lifesavers, and gum many years ago. I remembered seeing these as well and knew that I could adapt the bubble gum package to be a plane fuselage. I chose PaperTrey Ink Vintage Black buttons for the wheels and Silver Shimmer cardstock for the propeller, wings, and tail.
I colored the planes in the Copic marker trios that coordinate with the PaperTrey Ink cardstock colors used: New Leaf, Hibiscus Burst, Pure Poppy, and Terracotta Tile. After that, I die cut and embossed using a Spellbinders Labels 1 die, leaving the die in place as a mask. (I also cut a tiny mask for the plane from Eclipse Tape.) After masking, I airbrushed the sky with a Copic BG13 marker and a Copic Airbrush System. (Background is stamped with another new PTI set that you'll see later this week. :-})
Yikes! I almost forgot to include my NON-Valentine use of this set! It is an incredibly versatile set, especially if you enjoy making mini cards. (I think I've made four more cards besides the ones posted here with this set--yes, it's that fun.) I made a card that my son would love--just a happy card. Background is PaperTrey's Polka Dot Basics II.
Be sure to stop by and see what all of the PTI girls have created with this set--it's chock-full of fabulous little images, and we've all used a different one. Thanks for visiting!
