PaperTrey Favorites Scavenger Hunt

 

Today I have a fun PaperTrey Ink anniversary month twist on my card; I'm sharing a card, but I'm not telling you the name of the stamp set that I used. Skip to the fourth paragraph to find out what that's all about!

Our assignment for today's post was to choose our favorite PTI set and use it; choosing was hard! I finally settled on this particular set because I love coloring this flower. My favorite part of it is where the four petals turn over and have the bottom of the petal showing--it makes for a great place to shade and achieve depth. The lines are clean and fresh, but the petals are casual and realistic, in a graphic way.  That adds up to an image that is perfectly me--I adore it!

I used the Copic markers shown below to color the flower and leaves before trimming them carefully. Card base is PTI's clear cardstock, and Berry Sorbet is the regular cardstock color. I used some Bitty Box Basics patterned paper behind the flower, stitching it to the Berry Sorbet mat. Button is a Berry Sorbet Vintage Button tied on with Rustic Twine over Berry Sorbet grosgrain ribbon.

 

I've already told you that I haven't mentioned the actual NAME of my favorite Papertrey stamp set, which is the only set I used in my project today. Hello: CPS 151

 I love Tami Mayberry's CPS Sketches!  They help me break out of my comfort zone and get ideas that wouldn't normally come to me. I edited this week's CPS 151 sketch just a bit because I didn't have room for four elements across the front.  

Here I've paired some Cosmo Cricket Girl Friday papers (Tuesday and Sunday) with PaperTrey Ink buttons and sentiment (Mega Mixed Messages). Flowers are die cut using Spellbinders Nested Flowers dies, and tag is cut down from a Double Ended Tags Trio die. Buttons are PaperTrey Ink Vintage Buttons in Sweet Blush, Hibiscus Burst, and Spring Rain. Leaves are a die cut from Stampin' Up.

CHA Snapshots Part 2

 

I have a few more snapshots from CHA to share tonight. Kaisercraft had some beautiful blanks for altering; I had just ordered one of these from Emma's Paperie a couple of weeks ago, and I can't wait to put some Cosmo Cricket Garden Variety papers on it!

 

How about this adorable family tree? It's another one that I'd like to order and play with in the near future.

 

Prima always has gorgeous samples and products. Isn't this a lovely altered canvas piece?

 

I adore these pearl pieces, but I hadn't seen the one with the rosebuds anywhere before. I think they are probably new ones--love them!

 

I saw this layout at the Teresa Collins booth--I loved that pink measuring tape paper.

 

Okay, I usually stick to product pictures, but this one of Sherrie Siemens demonstrating at the Copic booth was SO sweet that I had to include it. If you look at what she's coloring, however, you'll see some really cute stamps that are a new MFT line. I want to color some of these. ;-)

That's it for tonight. Tomorrow is usually a slower day, except for perhaps last minute orders being taken. Then CHA becomes a ghost town as the aisle carpets are rolled up and booth tear-down and packing begins. Well, that's it; life will be back to semi-normal soon!

CHA Fun Stuff

I wasn't able to get to the computer yesterday, but I wanted to pop on today for a it and share a few photos of things that I saw yesterday and today at CHA.  It's fun to spend a few days with people who totally "get it" about one's crafting passion! It's been great to meet new friend and renew old acquaintances as well, but I'm sharing only product pictures; I know you'll see photos of people all over Facebook. 

 

That's Sharon Harnist's lovely hand modeling this fab charm bracelet made with vintage-style findings from a company called, aptly, Vintaj. I adore vintage, and I just know that several l of these will find their way to my studio. I'm really curious about whether I can use them in soldered pieces--I guess I'll find out!

I loved these little alterable drawers from Karen Foster. I think they were about 3-1/2" square--I'm approximating. These look perfect to alter for a craft room!

 

These lovely paper flowers were at the Graphic45 booth; they had a fabulous new line that I didn't have a good picture of, Romantique, that had pinks in it. It's another that will come to my house to play. . .

 

I adore this darling little watering tin made with Cosmo Cricket's new Garden Variety papers. Natasja Verbeek, whom I was finally able to meet, made this. She's amazing, and so is this paper!  

 

CoreDinations has partnered with Cosmo Cricket to create some fabulously textured color-core paper. Sanding it lets the core color show through. I'm really happy about this because sometimes I need to use a LOT of distress ink on my pinks and aquas to make them coordinate with my CC papers. These colors will be perfect.

 

I always love Melissa Frances papers and accents!  She has a new Attic Treasures II line that I can't wait to get, and she just came out with a 6" x 6" pad in one of her lines, and I begged her for MORE!

 

This little pad is a cute one by October Afternoon, due out at the beginning of March. I especially love that little cream and pink-flowered paper second up from the bottom.

 

This Green at Heart line by Basic Grey had some sweet, home-y patterns and colors.  I didn't have a picture of it, but Webster's pages had some great new releases in a good size for card makers. Clear and Simple stamps had a fun papercrafting i-phone app--how clever is that?

Sweet As Can Be

Greetings from Anaheim!  I was able to edit a few photos on the way, so I have a card for you today. This little cupcake image is one of my absolute favorites in the PaperTrey Ink Baby Button Bits stamp set. Why? Because I can color it, of course! 

I used the Copic markers shown below to color the cupcake. Cardstock colors are Stampers Select White and Lavender Moon. Spellbinders Dies that I used were a Classic Circle Nestability and a S4-242 Big Scalloped Petite, one of the new ones coming out at Winter CHA.

 

Background stamps are Polka Dot Basics II and Background Basics: Petal Power. Finished card size is 4-1/4" square.

Cute as a Button T-Shirt

 
I have a quick post for you tonight; I'm leaving for CHA in less than two hours, and I'm still packing. . .  I stamped the flower image from Baby Button Bits in Black Brilliance ink and heat set it before carefully coloring the image with my Copic markers. (I prewashed the shirt.) You have to color carefully, being careful not to oversaturate the the cloth, or it will wick and bleed.

Buttons are PaperTrey Ink Hibiscus Burst Vintage Buttons. I used a fabric glue to attach the pink rick-rack to the snap shirt. I have another colored cloth application in the wings, but I'm not quite ready to share that one yet.

New Cosmo Cricket Samples!

I'm really happy to be able to share some of the samples that I've been working on for the last week using the new Cosmo Cricket lines! You can see pictures of the full lines here on the Cosmo Cricket Blog. 

First up is Material Girl. (I'm putting these in the same order that they are in on the Cosmo Cricket Blog to avoid confusion.) While I am not adept at sewing like my mother and grandmother, you know that I still love to sew on my cards. The Material Girl line is perfect for sewing themes! 

On this first card, I also used PaperTrey Ink's Quilters Sampler set for the sentiment. On the second card, the sentiment is from Daily Designs Sentiments, and the flowers are cut out from Material Girl paper and enhanced with Stickles.

 

My last Material Girl card uses a piece of chipboard from the Material Girl line--isn't it a cute one?

Next, I have a couple of cards from the Joy Ride line and its coordinating Ready, Set, Chipboard. What a fun line for boy projects! The second card uses a sentiment from Everyday Button Bits.

 

Last, but not least, is Garden Variety. Oh, MY! I love the vibrant colors and fruit and veggie themes! You already know I'm a sucker for pea pods, so it won't surprise you that I love them both stamped (yesterday's post) and in chipboard (today's post).  The sentiment on the pea pod card is from Baby Button Bits; the leaves on the flower card below it are from Blooming Button Bits.

 

"Stop and Smell the Flowers" is from Vintage Picnic Sentiments.  I hope you get a chance to visit the Cosmo Cricket blog and see some of the other projects created with the new lines--have fun!

Edited to add: I've had several questions about the scallop die that I used. It's a new Spellbinders die that is coming out at this CHA, the S4-242 Big Scalloped Petite. I love it. :-)  I'm not sure when the dies will start shipping, but it will be some time relatively soon after CHA. Hope this helps!

Little Sweet Pea: CPS 150

 

This week's CPS 150 Sketch card is a baby card. October Afternoon was this week's CPS sponsor, and I just happened to have a pad of their Farm Fresh paper on hand to use with this layout. The stamp images are from PaperTrey Ink's Baby Button Bits, and buttons are New Leaf Vintage Buttons.

I colored the inside of the pea pod with a Copic YG13, after stamping the outside with Tea Leaves Versamagic ink. The sentiment is stamped in PaperTrey's Pure Poppy Ink, and edges are distressed in the Chamomile Vintage Distress Cube. Those little squares are pieces of cardstock that I coated in Ranger Glossy Accents and mounted with foam tape.

One Wonderful Life: Garden Tour 1 Blog Hop

 

For this month's JustRite Stampers Garden Tour 1 Blog Hop, I chose to create a wedding card.  We recently attended a wedding reception for a sweet young couple who had been married several hours away, and I knew exactly which of my new stamps I wanted to use for this card-- JustRite Stampers Romantic Centers, with the sentiment "Wishing two people one wonderful life."  

 I chose a 2" Round Wide Border, using a 2" Round Wooden Stamper for mounting, stamping the image in Versamark and heat embossing with Filigree Detail Silver Embossing Powder. Next I added some Chamomile Distress ink on the edges to age the image.

For papers I chose Cosmo Cricket Everafter, Something Old, Something True, and Something Borrowed. I cut the border with a new Spellbinders Jumbo Scalloped Petite Borderabilities that should be available soon after Summer CHA, and stitched the layers together.

 See that flourish? It came from Emma's Paperie, but I can't find any more to order right now in this color. It is available in other colors however, like pearls and aqua here. This is the first time I've ever used bling as big as this, and I loved it! I think I may need more. . .

That's it. The hardest part was putting it into an envelope. My husband did that while I wasn't looking. I hope the bow survived until it escaped the envelope. (I did add a tiny bit of fiberfill, so there is hope. Have a great day, and be sure to see what the other girls have been up to! Sweet Baby

How about another baby card tonight? I needed a baby boy card, and Alli's Daily Designs and Daily Designs Sentiments sets filled the bill perfectly.  I used the new Pretty Pastels patterned paper, along with Aqua Mist and Stampers Select White cardstock. Buttons are Aqua Mist Vintage Buttons and ribbon is Aqua Mist grosgrain.   I used a Spellbinders Labels Four die to mat the focal image, which was stamped in Versamagic Turquoise Gem and Gingerbread inks, as well as PaperTrey's new formula of Aqua Mist ink (for the cross-stitched circle).  A gemstone for the rattle head finished it off. 

 

Inside the card, I used the same patterned paper since it was light enough to stamp on and maintain readability. I used Inside and Out Baby for the inside sentiment--I love sweet words.

January PTI Release

Welcome!  It's PaperTrey Ink Release time again, and I'm excited to share some pieces with you that I've been working on over the past few days. If you've followed Nichole's amazing introductions, you already know that there are some pretty special new stamp sets this month. 

First up is Through the Trees--I love trees, and I think this is a classic set. Background papers here are the Turning a New Leaf papers. I cut the grass layers from Spring Moss cardstock and stitched them on after brushing them with a bit of Chamomile Distress ink. This card is 5-1/4" square.

 

Next I have something that was a bit out of my comfort zone, but I had fun with it anyway--a mini album for my son, using Dawn's Top Ten and Top Ten Additions stamp sets. An embarrassingly long time ago (at least a year ago) I had put together a Love word book in which I cut the pages on my Cricut, layering about four sheets of Kraft cardstock glued together for each page base, and some Cosmo Cricket Chemistry papers for the covering. After waiting for a couple of days for this all to dry (with my sofa sitting on top of it to hold it flat), I used a Bind It All to bind the book. Honestly, it is WAYYYYYY faster to just buy a pre-made chipboard words book--yes, it is. And while I'm proud of this one, I'll probably just buy my next book base. ;-}

 

The Top Ten and Top Ten Additions sets are perfect for scrapbooking applications. The obvious use for a "Love" mini album would have been an album for my husband; but knowing his predilection for privacy, I thought I'd spare him being splashed online this month. Instead I made a book for my nine-year-old, who has no privacy issues whatsoever and won't mind at all having his cute pictures online. . . I came up with the concept for this album one day when I felt like I had corrected my son all day long--yes, it was one of those days, which every parent out there has on occasion. I wanted to let him know that even if Mom was "crabby" and Dad was lecturing, we still love him. 

 

Making it was therapeutic too--I remembered my own Dad saying, "Don't sweat the small stuff," and "It's all small stuff." As I was choosing five adjectives from the Top Ten and Top Ten Additions sets, it occurred to me that not making one's bed, or even kicking one's dirty clothes behind the bathroom door instead of putting them in the hamper six feet away is really "small stuff." Does he need to do both better? Yes. But he's a good kid. And I'm very thankful to be his Mom. Enough babbling.

 

Next, you know how I love the Button Bits sets; this month's Baby Button Bits fills a great niche, and I have enjoyed so much using it. Here is one of my Baby Button Bits card, and I'll have a few more projects to share using this set in the next couple of weeks. Patterned paper on this card is Sunday from Cosmo Cricket's Girl Friday collection

How about a simple "Dad" card? I used the Turning a New Leaf papers, along with Alli Miles's Daily Designs and Daily Designs Sentiments sets for a simple Father's Day card. I have a baby card made with this set that I'll share another day. I can see the sentiments set being another super-useful set for small tags, just like Mixed Messages and Mega Mixed Messages.

Thinking about You: CPS 149

Today's CPS 149 sketch card was super fun! I chose a PaperTrey Ink set, Blooming Button Bits, as well as some Cosmo Cricket Early Bird papers, Cherry Pie and Farmer's Market. I inked the leaves in Versamagic Tea Leaves chalk ink and aged the edges with PaperTrey Ink's Chamomile distress ink.  The sentiment is stamped in PTI's Pure Poppy ink. 

Cardstock is Vintage Cream and Pure Poppy. I used my Copic Airbrush System and a BG23 marker to add just a hint of blue behind the flowers to tie in with the background papers. Finished card size is 5-1/4" sqaure, size to fit PaperTrey's large square envelopes. Buttons are Aqua Mist and Pure Poppy Vintage Buttons.
