Today I'm privileged to be able to share a new PaperTrey Ink set, to be released on February 15, Year of Flowers: Violets. I adore flowers--especially flowers that I can color--and I'm thrilled at the prospect of the beginning of a new series, a monthly flower set! While I love coloring, I'm aware that not everyone shares my love for it; so I've included four very different samples to give you just a taste of what you can do with this stamp set.
My first version is clean and fairly simple, with the violets colored with Copic markers and then trimmed carefully and mounted with foam tape. I used the new Tin Types debossing plate for the background of Spring Moss cardstock, and the ribbon is Lavender Moon Grosgrain.
Using a glue pen at center of the violets made it simple to add some Prisma Glitter for drama. The Copic trios that I used here were from Spring Moss, Scarlet Jewel, and Plum Pudding.
Next, I have a graphic version--not colored, so anyone can do it! I chose Raspberry Fizz cardstock, Versamagic ink, and detail white Filigree Embossing powder. Buttons and grosgrain are also Raspberry Fizz. Finally, I added some raspberry rhinestones at the flower centers for drama.
How about a paper-pieced version next? For this card I used the large violet image, stamped on last month's PaperTrey Ink release of designer paper, Pretty Pastels. I had intended to make it 3-3/4" square to fit in the PaperTrey 4" x 4" square envelope, but it ended up working out better as one of Mish's tent cards. (It would fit into a regular A-2 sized envelope.)
Here you see my stamped paper pieces, trimmed carefully.
Next is my card front, pieced from the same papers. I used one of the new PTI scalloped dies for that Lavender Moon edge.
Since I rarely leave well enough alone, I had to pull out my Copic markers and enhance a few areas for added dimension. All of the markers above except for V01 are current PaperTrey Copic colors.
And here is the completed paper-pieced, slightly-Copic-enhanced violet, layer with foam tape, and with a few pearls and buttons added for good measure--fun!
Finally, I pulled out my watercolor papers and toyed with a vintage version. I used watercolor crayons and a waterbrush to paint the image and then spritzed it with water again when I finished since it looked pretty tight. (Okay, it's still pretty tight. Must be that control freak in me!)
I used Avocado and Plum Pudding cardstock, along with white and off white vintage buttons, as well as the Tin Types debossing plate and the small scalloped die. Ribbon is white silk, dyed with several Copic markers to try to get a hand-dyed look. I love silk ribbon!
That's it for an introduction; I'm still playing with this fabulous stamp set though! Thanks for visiting, and be sure to check Nichole's, Heather's, Niki's, Mish's, Dawn's, Alli's, Kim's and Melissa's blogs for more PaperTrey Ink February Release goodness--enjoy!
