Can you handle another guy card today? I was in the mood to play with my airbrush on that card windshield today, though now that I look at the completed card, I think that my airbrushed reflection might be more distracting than helpful to the card as a whole. Still, it was worthwhile as an exercise in creativity, right? :-} My card sketch is Mercy Kerin's MTSC70, slightly simplified.
I needed a birthday card for my brother in law who hit the big 5-o this week. I wished that Papertrey Ink's Enjoy the Ride set had a little license tag that said "Over the Hill," and I know that I could have made one on my printer; but when I considered that I'd have to eat whatever I dished out in about 3-1/2 years, I decided to play nice and just go with a black base as a subtle ribbing. (Big oops here--Kim just pointed out that there IS an "Over the Hill" sentiment in the Enjoy the Ride set. Maybe I need a better pair of reading glasses! ;-P)
The Copic markers that I used are shown above. (Most of them are in the Papertrey Copic Trios.) Paper is some new stuff too; it is made by Core'dinations for Cosmo Cricket, pre-embossed, sandable papers in Cosmo Cricket patterns and colors. I think this is only the first or second time that I've played with the color core cardstocks, and I really liked it for this card. That red pattern behind the card reminded me of my husband's metal toolbox on the back of his truck, and the dots just seemed to fit with the car.
Now, back to that reflection in the window: I airbrushed this one and did quite a bit of masking. When I finished, it occurred to me that on something this small, it would be simpler just to color it by hand and not have to mask. So I redid it on another car, coloring both car and reflection, as a stepped out tutorial. I'll have that posted on Wednesday, in case you're interested.
