Welcome! This weekend I played with bling on an old-fashioned wedding or anniversary card. I was using Mercy Kerin's MTSC71 sketch, along with a JustRite Romantic Sentiments Centers 1-5/8" and some lovely 8" x 8" Graphic 45 Le Romantique papers that were just begging to be used from my stash.
I stamped the sentiment in Papertrey's Berry Sorbet ink and distressed its edges with Chamomile Vintage Touch ink, cutting it with a Spellbinders Plain circle die and adding single self-adhesive pearls on either side, knowing that I had a gorgeous Zva pearl flourish that I wanted to use on the card front, and wanting to tie those two elements together. I also edged it in gold paint pen.
The focal image is cut from one of the sheets in the Le Romantique pad and stitched to some pink cardstock. It is mounted on more of the same paper, cut with a Spellbinders Labels Eight die.
I didn't have any ribbon that was just the perfect color (which is strange, considering how much ribbon lives in my studio), so I used a Copic R02 Various Inks, along with a couple of drops of R14, to die some May Arts Ivory Silk ribbon. It dries in seconds and is not messy as long as you do it in a little plastic bag.
On the pearl flourish, I kept moving it around while it was still on it plastic protector sheet until I found a way to let it frame the people, extend past the edges slightly, and not cover anything important. I cut off one little side flourish to make it work that way, but I used it to drape across the ribbon. These flourishes are FUN to play with! Just a helpful hint on the part that hangs slightly over the card: I usually use my little powder-filled embossing buddy to swipe lightly across the extended part. This covers up the sticky part so that it won't stick to the edges of the envelope.
That's it--a card that could be used either as a wedding or an anniversary card. Thanks for stopping by, and be sure to check out what Mercy's Muses have done with this sketch; they are a sweet group, and I've enjoyed playing along with them this month: Pam Speidel, Cindy Haffner,Pam Varnell, Julie Lacey,Crystal Birr, Jackie Pedro, and Jessica Diedrich. You can leave a link here on Mercy's blog. Thanks!
