Welcome! I'm sharing all of the rest of my May Papertrey Ink release projects here tonight just in case the new gallery isn't cooperative. (I'll go back and post product links as soon as the new storefront is working.) First up is Up, Up, and Away and Up, Up, and Away Sentiments. I loved coloring the hot air balloons! If you don't like coloring as much as I do, however, there are plenty of solid balloons that you can stamp in this set as well.
I chose a Clearly Creative Card base for this card because I wanted the balloons and the clouds to be the star of the card--floating unassisted by cardstock. The Copic markers that I used are shown below. Patterned paper is this month's Beautiful Blooms paper.
Next I used the pretty hibiscus from Aloha to create a "Thinking of You" card--my favorite card sentiment to stockpile since you can still go in almost any direction with the inside sentiment when you need to use the card. This card was also colored with Copic markers, shown below. Patterned paper is Cosmo Cricket's DeLovely--perfect to go with a bright, summery card.
As always, I enjoyed this month's Year of Flowers set, Year of Flowers: Lily of the Valley. My biggest challenge in this set was that I wanted the flowers to be white. While I could have used a white background and simply colored the background around the Lily of the Valley, I chose instead to go with a midtone background, Kraft paper, and ratchet my highlights up. For the greenery and the blue glow around the outside of the blossoms, I used my Copic markers and a Spica glitter pen, shown below. For the white of the flowers, I used a white Prismacolor pencil.
Because the image was a large one, I decided to crop in and let the edges of the blossoms extend beyond my frame. See the texture on the Aqua Mist cardstock? That is a new Linen and Canvas Impression plate, and it adds such understated elegance! I'm sure that I will be using this one often.
For Get to the Point and Get to the Point sentiments, I used the Beautiful Blooms paper combined with one of my mother-in-law's favorite birthday sayings--39. . . again? (If that doesn't make sense, you're just not old enough yet. ;-})
On the inside for the "again," I used the Outlines Alphabet, coloring in the letters with BG11 and BG15 Copic markers. This is a 4-1/4" square card.
Finally, another sweet Summer set: Take Three Summer. I kept this one simple, using the Sunshine Impression Plate for the background, as well as some Vintage Cream satin ribbon and Aqua Mist Vintage Buttons. I added just a touch of bling with some glue and Prisma Glitter on the bird's flowers.
So, which was your favorite set this month? If you're looking for more ideas for this month's sets, be sure to see what the other Papertrey Ink girls have come up with. Hope that helps!
