Good morning! I have a labor of love to share today--yes, a seven-hour or so project! I received an e-mail a few weeks ago advertising clearance prices on a set of three paper mache houses. They were so charming that I had to order them. Somehow the thoughts of actually covering them was a little daunting though--all of those angles to get right--you know what I mean!
When Gundrun from the Cosmo Cricket DT issued a house challenge for this week's Cosmo Cricket blog post, I decided it was time to tackle one of the houses--angles and all. This is the medium-sized house, about 7" x 8" x 6". The lid lifts off so that you could conceivably store something inside--like a bag of Christmas cookies, if you still wanted to give it away after spending a long time covering it! ;-) I chose papers and chipboard accents from Cosmo Cricket's Mitten Weather line and added some buttons, crackle paint, and off-white Flower Soft for snow.
I also added a few of my Zva Creative rhinestones to decorate the chipboard Christmas tree and accent the lavender snowflakes in the roof gables. Now, I know that some of you are probably wondering where I got the houses; I had gotten them from Scrapbook Steals for $17.50 for the set of three, but it was one of those daily deals--there are none on the website right now. I googled "Holiday Paper Mache Houses" and found some at SaveOnCrafts, but they are a bit higher there. Good luck finding some if you feel like tackling this little project, and thanks for stopping by this weekend!
