Blizzard Bunches Snowman

You say it's almost July? Yes, I know. . . ;-) I'm working on new release pieces and CHA projects, however, and in that stack is some decidedly un-July material. This little guy was too cute not to post today, so I hope he brings you a smile, even in the middle of the summer! He is from the JustRite Stampers Blizzard Bunches set, with a tag from Christmas Mini Sentiments.

These are the Copic markers that I used to color him (most found HERE), along with two Spica Glitter pens, a Melon and a Red.

Vintage Morning Glories

Welcome! Yes, I'm still here. I'm trying to get back into the swing of things after traveling, and I have a vintage-y card to share with you today. I used a LOT of Papertrey Ink sets here--Year of Flowers Collection, Garden Variety, Background Basics: Newsprint, and Polka Dot Basics 2.

These are the Copic markers that I used to color in the morning glories image, along with a couple of Spica Glitter pens.

Everything that I used was a Papertrey product except for the cotton string, the Copic-dyed seam binding, and some Adirondack Latte ink for the handle of the garden spade. All details are shown in the list below. Thanks for visiting!

Song in Your Heart

Hello! I'm back from Wichita--loved the people there and had a great day in our class. I had one more card ready before I left, and that's what you see here today--another Christmas in June card for you. 

For this card I used one of JustRite's new June releases, Peace on Earth. I like that I can use several of my Spellbinders dies in conjunction with the centers in this set: Labels Six, Ten, Fourteen and Eighteen. For this card I used a Spellbinders Classic Ovals, Labels Six, Labels Ten, and Parisian Accents for the trim piece behind the oval focal point. 

Papers are from Cosmo Cricket's Mitten Weather line (Deck the Hollies). To accessorize, I used some cream seam binding along with pearls from Zva Creative (PE-02CB-139 and PE-02CB-107). Sand paper block, sewing machine, distress ink--and that's about it--one more card ready for my stash! Thanks for visiting.

You Make Life Sweet

Hello! Lori Craig and I are in Wichita tonight, ready for a Copic Certification classes tomorrow--hope to meet some of you there! Today I have a birthday card to share with you. It's for a three-year-old strawberry blond whose favorite color is yellow, and I hope she likes it! :-} I chose a My Favorite Things set called Pucker Up--sweet Joanne Basile brought it to me in Boston--thanks, Joanne! (Looks like Pucker Up is out of stock, but it is from this category, Pure Innocence.)

I used two Spellbinders dies here as well, a Grand Labels Eleven, and a Grommet Tags. Papers are some of my Girls Paperie stash--available only in places that still have some stock left, from what I can tell. Hopefully there will be more like this at CHA though.

A Whale of a Happy Birthday

Welcome! This promises to be another busy week; I'm headed out to Wichita, via Kansas City, early tomorrow morning for a Copic Intermediate Certification on Thursday. Want to join either me or Lori Craig there? Lori has a Standard Certification on the same day, and we both have spaces left in our classes.

On to my card: today I pulled out another Papertrey Ink set that I hadn't had time to use when it first came out, Whale Wishes.  Isn't he a cutie?

Papers are from Papertrey Ink's Green Boutique pad, and the whale is die cut using the Whale Wishes die. It's hard to see,but I airbrushed some waves onto the bottom of the Mat Stack 4 die cut. I cut a mask using the Medium Scalloped border die, as well as using the Large Scalloped Border die on the green patterned piece toward the bottom of the card. Okay, now I have a card for you (totally unrelated to Summer Card Camp cards--those are exclusively on Summer Card Camp). I had one more Father's Day card to make tonight, so I pulled out a fun JustRite Stampers set that I had not used yet, You Are the Best.

I loved coloring that ribbon part with my Copic markers! The two Blue-Violet markers were used on the inside folds of the aqua ribbon to create the shadows. I also used the warm gray markers over the aqua color to mute the aqua a bit and make it coordinate with the patterned paper that I used from Cosmo Cricket's Odds and Ends Mini Deck.

I used a Spellbinders Blossom Three die to cut the focal image, a Labels Four Small die to cut the red polka-dotted background shape, and ribbon tails from the Nested Lacey Pennants set. Also, I used a scrap of cotton sweater wet with Copic Colorless Blender to create texture on those ribbon tails.

Vases for You

I really enjoyed playing with Maile's Gracious Vases set this past week!  On this card I used four of the outline vases, my Copic markers, Spica Glitter Pens, and a bit of glue pen and Prisma Glitter.

Thinking of You Orchids: Stamper's Dream Blog Hop

Good morning--I'm back from the Boston certifications and had a fabulous time there! This morning I'm blog hopping along with several other friends of Stamper's Dream and Michelle Rodgers. I chose a Flourishes stamp to work with, the lovely Orchids set. 

These are the Copic markers that I used to color the orchids image. I chose some Picket Fence Tiny Tablet papers from Lily Bee Designs to work with my orchids image. For the piece trim on the bottom, I used a Spellbinders Parisian Accents border. Ribbon is dyed with a Copic B00 re-inker.

Enjoy the Moments: Merry and Bright

Good morning! Lori Craig and I are still in Boston, and I'm looking forward to a Copic Intermediate Certification today. Lori has a Standard Certification class that is packed out tomorrow, so I will stick around for that as well. We did some sightseeing today and loved Boston. Highlights were several historical sights, as well as the Gardener Museum where we saw a Titian and some John Singer Sargent  portraits--wow. . . We both appreciate the advice that many of you shared about things that we must see in this area--thanks!

Today I have another of the new JustRite June Releases to share. Remember how pressured you feel when you wait until Thanksgiving to start your Christmas cards?  (I know because I've been there too often!) Anyway, a June release of holiday images gives you plenty of time to work on cards. For this card I chose a focal image from the Merry and Bright set and paired it with papers from a Melissa Frances Home for the Holidays paper pad. 

 

For inks, I used Versamark, Adirondack Stonewashed, and distress ink. If you are coloring an image with Copic markers, only clear embossing powder can be used to heat-emboss. Colored or black embossing powders generally react with the ink and start flaking away. So, I inked my image first with Versamark, then stamped it into the Adirondack Stonewashed, and then stamped my paper--inking twice, stamping once.  That allowed me to have the look of colored embossing powder, even though it was really clear powder. (Using a pigment ink would have been simplest, but I did not have a blue pigment ink.)

I then colored the small designs with the following Copic markers: R32, YG61, YG63, BG7. For Spellbinders dies, I used the Grand Labels Eleven to get the blue scalloped layer. While there is a 2010 Spellbinders Heirloom ornaments die that coordinated with the ornament image, I don't have that die yet, so I hand-cut my ornament.
