Today I have both a card and a gift box to share using the Spellbinders S5-077 Labels Twenty-Five Nestabilities® die templates and the EL-001 Elite M-Bossabilities™ folder. I am so excited to feature the new and innovative Spellbinders M-Bossabilities folders! These are unique reversible folders, with two seperate yet coordinated embossing patterns for twice the designs and double the value! The folders simply flip over, so easy to use. There are twenty new folders, each with two designs, and they come in two sizes, 5 x 7" and 4-1/4 x 5-1/2" for all of your paper crafting needs. Watch this introductory video!
See how to use the new Spellbinders M-Bossabilities in this video!
Let's take a step-by-step look at the card.
I knew that I wanted a shaped card since Labels Twenty-Five is such a graceful shape for a card. I used the largest Labels Twenty-Five die template to cut the card base. Notice that I did not cut completely through at the top; I needed a piece that was uncut to be the hinge for the card. Since I'm layering patterned paper on front, that little sliver won't show anyway. Next I cut and embossed the patterned card front before sanding its edges to add more dimension.
For the mat layer of the focal image, I cut and embossed my patterned paper with the second from largest Labels Twenty-Five die template before running it back through my Spellbinders Grand Calibur® machine with the Elite M-Bossabilities folder for some fabulous texture. When I ran the Elite M-Bossabilities layer through, it flattened the embossed edge left by Labels Twenty-Five. However, I didn't want to run the paper back through with Labels Twenty-Five and lose the deep Elite embossing. Instead, I laid the paper back into the Labels Twenty-Five die and used a simple embossing stylus to run around that inner rim. That allowed me to have both parts deeply embossed. Next I used a chalk ink pad to run lightly over the top of the embossing to make the embossing "pop."
For the focal image layer, I used the third from largest Labels Twenty-Five die template to cut and emboss some cream cardstock. I left the die template in place while I stamped the musical background to keep the edges plain.
To finish the card front, I used a banner die template from the Nested Pennants set for the sentiment, airbrushing with the die template left in place with a Copic RV55 marker. I stamped, hand-cut, and colored the butterfly before glittering it and attaching it with foam tape. Ribbon is dyed with a Copic reinker to coordinate with the butterfly and sentiment.
My coordinating box uses Labels Twenty-Five for top, bottom, and tag; the Elite M-Bossabilities folder for the lid top (with glitter added to the embossed parts); Spiral Blossoms One for the roses; and Foliage for the leaves (airbrushed with a Copic G24).
