Vintage Butterflies

Welcome! I have a little vintage note card to share with you today. I started with my JustRite Papercrafts Fleuriste Newsprint Background, stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on an off-white cardstock.  I used PTI's Chai and Chamomile Distress cubes to grunge up the edges of the cardstock, along with a pair or scissors to scrape the edges. Next I colored the inside of the labels shape with Copic YG61 and  BG000, fading to 0 in the center.

These are the Copic Markers that I used to color the image. Leaves are YG61, 63, and 67; butterflies are R81, 83, and 0; and shadows are in BV00. 

I cut one extra butterfly and glittered both of them. The little lace strip from Classic Lace Edges Two is stamped with Versamark ink on a transparency sheet, then heat-embossed  in detail white embossing powder before being trimmed with a Spellbinders E8-008 Classic Edges Two die template. (I ran it thorugh my Grand Calibur twice back and forth, not letting it come out the end until the last time to make sure that the acetate layer was cut since it was a heavy sheet of acetate.) Ribbon is off-white seam binding dyed with Copic RV91 and R83, and rhinestone flourish is from Zva Creative. That's it for today--thanks for stopping by!

Tulips for You

Welcome! I finally got back downstairs today to play with my toys work. I had a new Lockhart Stamp Company image that I wanted to try out today, Spring Tulips. (I found it online HERE.)

These are the Copic markers that I used to color the Spring Tulips image; click to see the picture larger. (I videoed the coloring process, but it's still got several more hours of converting/processing before I can edit it. I'll try to post it later this week.)

I used three Spellbinders dies to frame my image, Standard Circles Large, Standard Circles Small, and Fleur de Lis Motifs. Patterned paper is Melissa Frances Pearl. I added some Zva Creative self-adhesive pearls for a touch of bling after sanding and stitching my background paper layer. That's it for tonight--thanks for stopping by!

Choice Roses

Welcome! We just got home from Milwaukee tonight; it will be good to be home for a few weeks now. I used several Papertrey Ink sets on this card: Rosie Posie for the focal image, and Background Basics: Wrought Iron and Simply Jane for the background.

Ink colors are PTI's Hibiscus Burst, Spring Moss, Spring Rain, Blueberry Sky, and the Chamomile Distress Cube. I used a couple of Papertrey ink dies, Seed Packet Frame 2 Die and Spiral Notebook Page Die. I used a glue pen to add glitter to the roses and did some stiching on the rose background panel. Ribbon is white seam binding dyed with Copic B21 ink.

Simply Jane Friend Card and Mount Mary Visit

Ack! Camera issues today. . . I upgraded to Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 last week, and it and iPhoto aren't playing nicely yet for some reason. I finally had to e-mail card photos to myself so that I could open and edit them! Hopefully I'll get a chance to sift through my settings and figure it out soon.

Today's card uses Papertrey Ink's Simply Jane and Tiny Tags stamp sets, along with patterned paper from the Smokey Shadow Pattern Pack. I stamped, glittered, and cut out that little extra rose for her hair and popped it up on foam tape.

Spellbinders dies that I used included Classic Ovals Small, Labels and Tags, and Floral Ovals. It's a simple card--one more for the stash.

Finally, I was in Milwaukee today at Mount Mary College for a Copic presentation in a fashion design class--what a great group of students and professor!  I really loved watching them sketch and add color and texture with the markers, and I thought that you might enjoy their work too. I included just a sampling below.

Good Friends

Welcome! I am headed down to Milwaukee today for a couple of Copic Certification classes, but I have a couple of cards that I can share this week anyway. Today's card used JustRite's Spring Rose Medallions paired with Classic Lace Edges One. I stamped the lace border on cardstock-weight vellum with Versamark ink and heat-embossed it with detail white embossing powder, then trimmed it with a Spellbinders Classic Edges One. I used JustRite's Nested Oval Medallion Labels to trim the focal image, combined with Spellbinders Labels Fourteen for the mat layer.

These are the Copic markers that I used to color the image. Patterned Papers were from Echo Park's 6" x 6" This and That pad. I used a length of tulle to tie a bow and some Maya Road Leaf Pins and a PTI Berry Sorbet button to dress up the bow center. Some sanding and sewing, and I was finished--one summer-y card for the stash! Thanks for stopping by today.

Sending Birthday Wishes

Welcome! I'm in Savannah, Georgia for the week. We're having a great visit here at SCAD, and more adventures tomorrow. I finished this card just before I left; it uses a clear base with some lovely Melissa Frances paper and some Papertrey Ink stamps, the 2012 Birthday Tags set. I hand-cut the labels pieces after stamping them in Sweet Blush, Aqua Mist, and Smokey Shadow. Next I matted the ovals with two Spellbinders dies, Floral Ovals and Wonderful Wings.

The inside sentiment is from Inside and Out Birthday, while the inside panel is cut and embossed with a Spellbinders Grand Labels Twenty-Three. 

The pink tulle is 4" wide, then folded. (I'm sorry--I can't remember where I got the tulle since I've had in for a few years.) I coated the butterfly with Prisma glitter for a little extra bling-factor. That's it for today--one birthday card for a sweet little princess! Thanks for stopping by. 

Birthday Butterfly

Welcome! I am off to Savannah, Georgia first thing Monday morning, but I managed to get a few things done before leaving so that I can post while I am gone. I am really excited to be visiting Savannah College of Art and Design with Marianne Walker and Colleen Schaan--should be both educational and fun! 

Today's card uses more of the Papertrey Ink background stamps that I had stamped last week for THIS post.  (I still have enough leftovers for one or two more cards after this one.) Stamps that I used included Background Basics: Twinkle and Background Basics: Wrought Iron, in addition to a butterfly, a frame, and a sentiment and a sentiment from the Pretty Peonies set. (While you can't purchase Pretty Peonies, many PTI customers have earned the set You can substitute the In Bloom set, Rosie Posie, or many other floral sets.) I also used a snippet of patterned paper from the Dearest Jane Collection. Inks were Hibiscus Burst, Raspberry Fizz, Spring Moss, and Chamomile Distress ink. I used Kraft, Vintage Cream, and Raspberry Fizz cardstock, as well as Raspberry Fizz grosgrain for my ribbon. That little rhinestone swirl is from Zva Creative.

Vintage Mother's Day: JustRite April Release Backgrounds

Welcome! I've pretty much got my bases covered on Mother's Day cards already (assuming I can still find them when it's time to send them); but when I received another sweet Mother's Day set in the mail last week, I thought perhaps I could make a card for my sister, who is a pretty amazing mother and teacher of two fabulous little girls. I have used two new JustRite Papercrafts stamps here, Grandma's Attic Background Stamp and sentiments and banner from Vintage Rose Medallions.

These are the Copic markers that I used to tint the "Happy Mother's Day" banner at the top of the card.

The printed paper on which I stamped the JustRite Grandma's Attic Background is a Melissa Frances paper, Pearl. It's a subtle pale pink and yellow--low-key enough that  it still worked with a background stamp. Spellbinders dies that I used included Floral Ovals, Grand Ovals, and  Labels and Tags. I hand-cut the banner, buttons, thread tops, and dress form.  Pearls are from Zva Creative.

The Rainbow Will Come

Welcome! Today I have a sweet little My Favorite Things image to share with you, the Rainbow Will Come. With that umbrella and fashionable slicker, she needed some bright colors.

These are the Copic markers that I used to color the image. (Videos of the whole process are embedded below, in two parts, since I can upload to YouTube in only 15 minute segments. LINKS: Rainbow Will Come: Part 1 of 2 and Rainbow Will Come: Part 2 of 2)

That little piece of lacy trim is cut with a Spellbinders Lace Doily Accents die template. I colored the umbrella top twice and popped it up with foam tape after trimming the second one closely. Papers are from Cosmo Cricket's DeLovely Mini Deck, and ribbon is some aqua seam binding. (DeLovely is an older line--hope it's still out there!)

Finally, I'm assuming that most of you who use Copic markers already have a source that you typically purchase your markers from, and that's great! However, if you've been looking for certain colors that are unavailable where you usually shop, I heard just today that the Copic website is offering free shipping April 6-13 (starting this coming Friday) in honor of their attendance at Sakura Con this week in Washington--just thought I would pass that info along in case someone could use it. JustRite Papercraft April Release: Spring Rose Medallion

Welcome! Today I have a Spring-y card to share with you from the JustRite Papercrafts April release. For the focal image I used the Spring Rose Medallions set, stamped in Memento Desert Sand ink on ivory cardstock. I used a Nested Oval Medallion Labels die to trim and emboss the focal image before coloring it with the Copic markers shown below. I cut a second, larger medallion shape from PTI's Sweet Blush cardstock to mat the focal image and inked its edges with Versamagic Pink Grapefruit ink. 

Isn't this a pretty set? I have another card started using the same set!

I also used two other new JustRite stamp sets that will be featured later this week, Fleuriste Newsprint Background Stamp and Classic Lace Edges Two. I stamped the lace image with Versamark ink on cardstock-weight vellum and used detail white embossing powder to heat-emboss the lace. I then used a Spellbinders Classic Edges Two die template to cut my lace edge. A bit of stitching, some distressing, off-white seam binding with a vintage button, and that's it--one more Spring card for the stash!
