JustRite Papercraft: December Release Day 2

Welcome! Yes, I know I'm a bit ahead of time on this card. . . ;-) But given my propensity for being late mailing cards, I'm still glad to have it made early! Serious though, I wanted to share a card using one of JustRite's newly released background stamps today, the Elegant Damask Background Stamp. I paired it with another new release, Hugs and Kisses Sentiments. (Both are shown below,)

   

As you can see on the sentiment set, several labels are included to provide versatility. 

I used Versamagic Pink Grapefruit ink to stamp both the stamp background and the sentiment, then distressed all cardstock edges lightly with a Chamomile Distress Cube. I used several Spellbinders Paper Arts dies, including Decorative Labels Eight, Labels Eight, Vintage Lace Accents, and [I think] Standard Circles SM. [I'm not home to check on that one for sure.] I used a ring of self-adhesive pearls from Zva Creative, along with some pink heart pins from Maya Road on my Copic R30-dyed seam binding to embellish. Under the pearl ring is a layer stamped in Versamagic and heat embossed with Detail White embossing powder--you can just barely se it peeking out from under the pearls. That's it!

JustRite Papercraft: December Release Day 1

Welcome! I'm still in South Carolina, snatching a few minutes here and there to post. For the next couple of days I have some non-seasonal cards to share with you from JustRite's new December releases. Today's featured background is the Cupid Background Stamp, which I paired with another new set that will be released later this week, Antique Valentine Tags One.

Isn't that a pretty one? 

I stamped the card front with Vintage Cream pigment ink on PTI's Lavender Moon cardstock for a subtle look. I used two Spellbinders Paper Arts^TM die template sets: Classic Ovals Small and Floral Ovals. I used a Copic R83 Sketch marker and a Copic Airbrush System to airbrush the inside of the larger Classic Ovals shape, leaving the die template in place to act as a mask for airbrushing.The seam binding/ribbon is dyed with Copic R83 and  a splash of Colorless Blender Various Inks, then scrunched while wet for a few seconds. Self-adhesive pink rhinestones are from my Zva Creative Stash.

Sweet Friend: JustRite November Release

Hello, Copic Friend

Greetings from South Carolina! I am here with my parents for several days, but I managed to get a few cards uploaded before I left so that I could still get some blogging done while I am here. How about a Copic-colored Saturated Canary image today? This digital image is called Color Me Wonderful, found HERE. 

First I colored her hair with the Copic markers shown above. I had FUN with that hair! I think the hair is probably why I bought this image. . . or maybe it was the Copic markers in her pocket. . . ;-)

Next I worked on her skin and her skirt. (I used the BV000 in both her skin and her skirt.)

In this picture I have colored both her eyes and her tank top, though I added a bit more contrast to her tank top in the next picture.

I darkened both the skirt and tank top here because they both seemed to lack enough contrast.

To finish off my Color Me Wonderful Girl, I used three Spellbinders Paper Arts die templates, Petite Scalloped Circles Large, Standard Circles Small, and Back to Basics Tags, along with one of my favorite M-Bossabilities, Dainty Dots. I dyed the ribbon with a Copic R81 reinker. That's it for tonight's card! Thanks for visiting.

On My Mind: Amazing Paper Graces December Kit 4

Welcome! Today I have a card to share that is made with my friend Becca Feeken's December Amazing Paper Graces Kit stamps and dies. It is a bit smaller than A-2 size at about 5-1/8" x 3-1/4". I used a sentiment from Becca's kit, stamped in PTI's Berry Sorbet ink on a Spellbinders Labels Twenty-Eight die cut. I also lightly airbrushed the sentiment background with my Copic Airbrush System and a Copic R21 Sketch marker.

To mat the sentiment, I used one of Becca's kit dies--isn't that a lovely shape? The round mat under it is a Spellbinders Splendid Circles, layered on top of the largest die cut from Becca's kit die set, with which I cut both the card front and the card base.  The flower is made with the Spellbinders Rose Creations die templates, out of coffee filters that I die-cut and then saturated with Copic colorless blender and Copic R21 re-inker. I threaded the holes onto a brad and then scrunched the petals while they were still damp. Leaves are cut with the Foliage Two die templates. That's about it!

Peace, Love, and Joy Wreath

Welcome! I finally got back into my studio today. It has been a week since I worked in here--and it seems like even longer than that. I came home from Phoenix to two sick guys. They are starting to feel a bit better, though, and I'm hoping that they will be much better by Thursday when we have family coming over! Today's card uses Papertrey Ink's 2012 Holiday Tags set, paired with some Authentique Festive Collection 6" x 6" papers. 

For the inside, I chose a sentiment from PTI's Over Under Easy: Holiday Additions, stamped in Pure Poppy ink.

The wreath is double-stamped with Simply Chartreuse and Ripe Avocado inks. I then stamped the berries in Pure Poppy and added red glitter with a glue pen. I used three Spellbinders Paper Arts™ die templates from these sets: Standard Circle Large, a tag from Jar Labels, and the red panel from Labels Eight. I dyed seam binding with some Copic YG97 and Colorless Blender reinkers and finished accessorizing with a Papertrey Ink vintage button in Spring Moss. Papertrey Ink November 2012 Release in Review

Welcome! Today I have four cards for you from Papertrey Ink's November 2012 release, which will be available tonight at 10pm, EST, at Papertrey Ink. My first card uses Heart-2-Heart #10.

Here is the inside of the card above; the sentiment is also from Heart-2-Heart #10. Papers are from a My Mind's Eye Miss Caroline 6" x 6" pad.

Next I have a get well card to share. I loved the Comfort Food set as soon as I saw it!  I added that little blue-green glow with a Copic BG10 and Colorless Blender. How about that texture plate? I think I will be using that quite a bit as well, also a November release, the Aida Impression Plate.

Hmmm. . . new stamps, new papers--they were bound to meet. . . For this card I used Heather's Framed Out #10 set, along with papers from the Authentique 6" x 6" Lovely Collection pad.

Brrrrr, it's COLD in Michigan right now! I used several of this month's new sets for this card: Background Basics: Inspiration, Knit Bits, Sentiment Signs, and Button Up. Ink colors are Spring Rain, Blueberry Sky, and Plum Pudding.

Premium Dad: JustRite November Release

Welcome! Today I have another couple of stamp sets from JustRite's November release to share with you, the Genuine Friend Background Stamp and Premium Labels. I needed a card for my Dad, so the timing of these sets was, well, JustRite! :-)

 

The Premium Labels set coordinates with several JustRite Custom Dies, including Antique Labels One, Vintage Label & Banner, and Nested Medallion Labels. I used a Nested Medallion Labels die, along with a Spellbinders Paper Arts Standard Circles Small die template to create my focal image. 

A bit of sewing, edge-distressing, and twill-tape-dying, and I was finished with my clean and simple card--just what I wanted for my Dad. Now to get it in the mail! Sweet Friend: JustRite November Release

Welcome! I'm home from the Grand Rapids Copic Certification classes, where I thoroughly enjoyed meeting Copic fans as well as some blog readers--a quick wave to you! I'm headed out tomorrow to Phoenix for my last business trip of the year. Winter is on the way to the U.P. of Michigan; it was definitely colder than it was when we left. Today's card with the new JustRite Song Bird Background stamp is anything but reflective of my chilly surroundings, however. (Blue skies and blooming flowers? Not here!)

I stamped the focal image twice--once in white ink on kraft cardstock, and once in Memento Espresso Truffle ink on X-Press It Blending Card. I colored the image on the X-Press It blending card with the Copic markers shown above and then trimmed around the colored image closely.

I inked the edges of the Kraft cardstock background with some Chai distress ink (PTI) and then stitched the perimeter for a visual frame before tying a bow and attaching the Kraft cardstock layer to a Berry Sorbet (also PTI) card base that had been edged with white craft ink. I used a glue pen to add glitter to the flower centers. The little tag is a Spellbinders die cut from the Back to Basics Tags set.

Welcome! I've been stamping away for the last few days, but most of it is for due dates next week. I have a sweet little card to share with you today using a Saturated Canary digistamp, Canary Love. In the last paragraph I explained how I dye seam binding with my Copic reinkers; a few of you have asked about that lately.

First, please forgive the resolution on the stepped out photos. I was sitting in the back corner of a poorly-lit room while I was coloring, and using my phone camera instead of my good camera on top of that. Photoshop Elements is good for tweaking, but not THAT good! I used the Copic markers shown above on her dress and hair.

The Copic markers shown here were for skin and eyes. 

The Copic markers shown above were used on some white parts of her dress and on her socks.

Here I have added a little more shading on clothing, a shadow, and her shoes.

Whew--back to my good camera again!  Patterned papers are from a 6" x 6" Lily Bee Designs Head Over heels pad. I used three Spellbinders die templates: a tag from Back to Basics Tags, A-2 Matting Basics for the focal image, and Resplendent Rectangles for the decorative mat behind the focal image.

I dyed the ribbon with my Copic reinkers and colorless blender solution. NOTE: I have seen that a couple of you are asking about dying seam binding. It's not difficult--really! I use a sandwich bag to keep my hands from getting too dirty, drop about a yard of rayon seam binding (Hug Snug/100 yard roll--Amazon or eBay) into the bag, give it a squirt of my Copic Colorless Blender to dampen the seam binding a bit so that it takes a little less of my reinker and so that it gets lighter and darker in some areas instead of solid in tint. Next I add a squirt or two of reinker, then I knead the bag until the reinker and colorless blender are spread well through the length of the ribbon. I scrunch it in the bag, then pull the scrunched ball of seam binding out of the bag and let it dry. It doesn't take long for the ethanol to evaporate--maybe a couple of minutes. That's it--super simple! I hope that helps. Thanks for stopping by today. 

Lockhart 2012 Limited Edition Snowglobe

Welcome! It's Monday morning again. . . We can do this, right? I'm headed out for the day soon, but I wanted to get a card posted first. A couple of weeks ago I received this sweet little Lockhart image, the 2012 Limited Edition Snowglobe called Nicholas Feeding the Birds. I found one at Ellen Hutson's store, HERE. 

The Copic Sketch Markers that I used are shown above. (Click for a larger image.) I shaded the birds with just a touch of gray after taking the picture above, and then I added glitter to the banner and snow. 

Patterned papers are from the My Mind's Eye Merry 6" x 6" paper pad. Spellbinders dies that I used were the Grand Circles, Standard Circles Large, and Lacey Circles. I dyed the natural seam binding with Copic reinkers, and the button is a Papertrey Ink Aqua Mist Vintage Button. That's it for today--thank you for visiting!

Happy Winter Birthday

Welcome! I've spent quite a bit of time this school year at the local library with my son. Something that I can always take with me is a set of Copic markers and a few things to color. One of the images that I took along today was this stamped image from Papertrey Ink's Winter Hills set, stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink of PTI's Kraft cardstock. 

I used the Copic markers shown above to color the image, and then I added some white colored pencil for highlights. (Click for a larger image. When you color on a midtone or darker cardstock, you cannot get highlights without adding a white medium. Copic ink is transparent. It will tint darker cardstock, but it will not lighten the cardstock--hence the white colored pencil as a LAST step. You do not want to use your Copic markers on top of  the colored pencil; the colored pencil needs to go on at the end.)

Patterned paper is PTI's Enchanted Evening Bitty Dots. I used Vintage Cream ink to stamp the sentiment and to edge the Enchanted Evening cardstock. I tried to find a place to put a ribbon, but it just didn't work out--the simplicity seemed to fit the image anyway, and as a bonus, it will be easy to mail! Thanks for visiting today.
