Welcome! I'm on my way home from Chicago this morning--{{{waving at the ladies from the Rosemont Copic Certification classes!}}} Today I have a JustRite Samantha Walker Christmas card to share using the O Holy Night stamp set [shown below], paired with some Authentique Festive 6" x 6" papers. Cardstock colors are PTI's Pure Poppy and Ripe Avocado. I stamped the manger scene in cream pigment ink and then added glitter to the star. I used three Spellbinders die template sets: A-2 Filligree Delight for that outer frame, Classic Ovals Small for that inner oval, and Back to Basics Tags for the little tag stamped on shrink plastic. I used some Copic R24 and R29 reinkers to dye the seam binding to coordinate with my papers and cardstock.
Would you like to see more projects made with the O Holy Night stamp set? Then be sure to see the following blog posts, and thank you for visiting!
Welcome! I have a little friend who has a birthday very soon and needed a suitable card to help celebrate. When I looked for a focal image, I found this Inky Antics Buggy Friends stamp in my stash--perfect for her!
I took pictures as I worked, showing all of the Copic markers that I used on each step--hope that helps!
You may not notice the Blue-Violets in the picture unless you compare it to the one above. I used the Blue-Violets to cool and mute shadow areas on the Yellow-Greens. Deep, hard-edged cast shadows for a bright, sunny day!
Here I added the flower and stem cap. I went back later and used a Spica Melon (bright green) Glitter pen to draw over those antennae.
Here I added some bright blue sky.
These sweet papers are from Carta Bella's Cool Summer 6" x 6" pad. I used three Spellbinders die template sets, including Classic Rectangles Small, Scalloped Rectangles Small, and one that I think must be retired, Office Supplies. (I found it on Amazon, but not on the Spellbinders site.) Anyway, if you need a substitute, you could always use the spiral edge die template from the On the Edge set. Well, that's it for tonight's post. I hope you have a great weekend!
Welcome! I know that it's June. . . but we believe in being prepared, right? :-) A couple of weeks ago I was working with Christmas stamps for catalog samples. Today I wanted to share one of these, a card made with the JustRite Samantha Walker set, O Holy Night. One card is just the tip of the iceberg, however: today and tomorrow, the Samantha Walker and JustRite design teams are playing together on a blog hop showcasing Samantha Walker's JustRite line of stamps. Of course, it includes both prizes and discounts--more about those later!
I used some Shimmery White and Shimmery Blue cardstock for a subtle but simple look, pairing it with a Spellbinders A-2 Filligree Delight die template to frame my O Holy Night focal image, which is heat embossed with silver embossing powder. I colored a white ribbon and self-adhesive pearls to coordinate with my cardstock using a Copic marker. Pretty simple!

Welcome! Last week I worked on a few cards for a new company, Hazel and Ruby. You can see their Facebook page HERE, if you'd like to know a little more about them. :-) Hazel and Ruby sent me two patterned paper lines, one of which was Gone Typo--a fun retro line shown below. (I'll share the second line as soon as I see that they have shared it.)
This card is a little larger than A-2 size--around 4" x 6", if I remember correctly. It's all Hazel and Ruby.
This card is standard A-2 size--4-1/4" x 5-1/2". It's mostly Hazel and Ruby, except for a sentiment from Papertrey Ink's Shutterbug Special stamp set that I thought would be perfect with this little typewriter! I cut a slit in the typewriter carriage to insert the sentiment.
This card is also standard A-2 sized. It's all Hazel and Ruby except for the sentiment, which is from PTI's Destination stamp set. I'm addicted to WORDS on a card front. . . I used some Ranger Crackle Accents on that camera lens to give it dimension and shine.
Oh, boy--I got to make a baby card tonight! Actually I should have said, "Oh, girl" since it's for the parents of a sweet new baby girl. :-) I pulled out an old favorite stamp set, PTI's Baby Button Bits, along with Simple Alphabet for the name tag.
These are the Copic Markers that I used to tint the patterned papers for paper-piecing the cupcake image. The BG23 was used with the Copic Airbrush System to add a pale blue green on the circle under the cupcake. *I forgot to include it in the picture, but I also used a Copic R85 to airbrush spaces in the lace background layer.* Papers are from a Crate Paper Little Bo Peep 6" x 6" pad.
I used several dies on this card. First, for the focal image and its mat layer, I used Spellbinders Standard Circles Large and Classic Scalloped Circles Large. For the rounded rectangle layer under the focal image, I used A-2 Curved Matting Basics A. For that lacey layer, I used A-2 Floral Ribbon Threader. Before I removed the two dies, I airbrushed with a Copic R85 to add detail to that lacey layer. For the tag I used Charmed I'm Sure. I coated the cupcake frosting with glitter. Every little girl needs a little glitter, right?
I have a couple of other tidbits of information to share with you. First, I'm really happy that the fabulously talented Michelle Houghton is teaching a couple of special half-day classes for Imagination International/Copic on August 17 in Overland Park, Kansas. You can learn more about these classes HERE on the Copic website. Both of these are project based classes, and both projects are fabulous! I've seen one in person, and the second looks great from the pictures too.
Okay, last thing for today--I was helping my husband stain some siding boards outside today and saw that my irises were blooming. I quit staining for long enough to go get my camera, because they were so pretty! I'm hoping to get a chance to sketch one of these and post it one of these days. This kitchen renovation is a time-sucker though. I'm sure that my husband and I will both be relieved when it's done. And to think that the only reason that it all started is that we are replacing the old off-white carpet with wooden floors. One thing leads to another. . . So far, only ONE room is re-floored.
So, I finished painting my kitchen Tropical Lagoon this afternoon. . . That's a far cry from its fourteen years in pure white! I'm still trying to decide if I like it or not; but since it took me two days to paint, I think I'll keep it for a while anyway. :-) Of course I felt like making a bright card to follow up that bright kitchen! I needed a cheery card for a friend who is facing some serious health issues. PTI's Bigger Blooms stamp set seemed like just the ticket, along with a sentiment from Healing Touch Sentiments.
For ink colors I used Hibiscus Burst, Summer Sunshine, Orange Zest, Simply Chartreuse, and True Black. I cut a few accent blossoms with the Bigger Blooms die and added glitter to the flower centers. The background paper is from the Hibiscus Burst Pattern Pack, and I used the Spiral Notebook Page die to cut both the focal image and a Hibiscus Burst mat layer. I used a length of pink bakers twine to tie a bow at the top. I hope it will give my friend a bit of encouragement!
Welcome! Today I have several cards to share from Papertrey Ink's June 2013 release. The stamp sets used herewill be available tonight at 10pm, EST, at Papertrey Ink.
First up is Vegetable Garden. I *love* this set! I finished just one card with it, but I have an idea knocking around for some sweet little stamped vegetable magnets. I paired this set with an older set, Garden Variety 2. All supplies--dies, inks, papers--are listed below. I used a Copic B12 marker and airbrush system to airbrush a bit of sky color on my focal image. Those Chevron Cover Plates are pretty fun too!
Artichokes, Anyone?
Stamps: Vegetable Garden, Garden Variety 2 Cardstock: Rustic White, Royal Velvet, Winter Wisteria Ink: Spring Moss, Simply Chartreuse, Ripe Avocado, Royal Velvet Patterned Paper: PTI Royal Velvet Pattern Pack Tools: PTI Garden Variety 2 Seed Pack, Vegetable Garden dies, Chevron Vertical Cover Plate; Spellbinders Standard Circle die; Copic B12 marker and Copic Airbrush System Accessories: Cream Rustic Twine, Ripe Avocado Vintage Button, foam tape
I used the Back to School stamp set for this card. Just a note: I knew that the stamp image was a book, but this particular book image reminded me of a crayon, with that oval left for the "Crayola." I decided to turn them into crayons by stamping the image twice, and then trimming the second end image into a triangular point and gluing it on. I hope that makes sense. :-)
Crayon Appreciation
Stamps: Back to School Cardstock: Stampers Select White, Limeade Ice, Simply Chartreuse Ink: Pure Poppy, Orange Zest, Summer Sunrise, Limeade Ice, Hawaiian Shore, Blueberry Sky, Winter Wisteria, Versamark Accessories: Detail White Embossing Powder; Pure Poppy, Orange Zest, and Summer Sunrise Vintage Buttons; cotton string
If you need teacher cards, you can't go wrong with Wonderful Words: Teacher. I die-cut several cardstock layers of "teacher," glue them together and glittered them, and then paired it with some October Afternoon Sidewalks paper.
A Great Teacher
Stamps: Wonderful Words: Teacher Cardstock: Vintage Cream, Pure Poppy Ink: Pure Poppy, Chamomile Distress Cube Patterned Paper: October Afternoon Sidewalks 8" x 8" pad Tools: Wonderful Words: Teacher die, sewing machine Accessories: red glitter, seam binding
Finally, the Boutique Borders: Thanks stamp set and coordinating die are clean and elegant--perfect to pair with a small formal pattern for a quick thank you card. I colored in part of the scrollwork with a Copic T2 marker and layered some looped Smokey Shadow Grosgrain behind the sentiment. I stitched around the edges too, but you can certainly skip that part if you are in a hurry.
If you would like to see some gorgeous projects with the Papertrey Ink June 2013 release sets, be sure to browse the following blogs! As a reminder, since the sets used in this post are from the June release, they will be available tonight at 10pm, EST, at Papertrey Ink. Thanks for visiting!
Hello. Remember me? Yes, I used to blog here frequently! Seriously, I have been cranking out the designs, but it's all been for WORK. Tonight I finally stopped to just make a card--not for anything other than just to Make. A. Card. . . Actually I will have four more cards to post first thing Saturday morning for Papertrey's June release. But for tonight, I started with an old favorite, Rosie Posie, and a sheet of Berry Sorbet cardstock. I grabbed a Spellbinders Labels Twenty Eight die template because I love its shape and wanted to try a round sentiment tag nested in that bottom curve (Standard Circles Small).
Eventually I pulled out four more stamps sets: Wildflower Garden (for the sentiment), Rosie Posie Step 2 (for the darker lines in the flowers and leaves), Background Basics: Text Style, and Background Basics: Sheet Music. Inks that I used were Berry Sorbet, Pure Poppy, Simply Chartreuse, and Ripe Avocado, as well as some Chamomile Distress Ink for the edges of the cardstock. I dyed off white seam binding with Copic R22 and R27 reinkers to get a multicolored effect. Well, that pretty much sums it up or tonight--thanks for visiting!
Welcome! I know--it's been a few days. . . We're remodeling our kitchen, among other things. I'm down to about 1/4 of a floor and about 1/3 of my cabinets. The other cabinets and drawers are scattered throughout the house. Spatula? Corner of the family room. Utensils? Doorway outside the kitchen. Potato peeler? That's easy--in my son's bedroom. You get the picture, right? Yesterday and today I finally had a chance to work on a few projects, most of them to been seen later. Tonight, however, I needed to make a card for a wedding reception that we have coming up soon. That means that I can use a BIG silk bow, right? :-) I started with one of last month's JustRite stamp sets, Birthday Vintage Labels Four, paired with one of this month's background sets, Leafy Background. I knew that I wanted a larger format card, so I chose a Spellbinders 5" x 7" Enchanted Labels Twenty Eight for that pink mat layer on the bottom. Next I chose a Grand Labels Four to cut a cream piece of cardstock that I had stamped with the Leafy Background.
I used the smaller die from 5" x 7" Enchanted Labels Twenty Eight to cut a cream mat layer, then added the focal image (from Birthday Vintage Labels Four), cut with JRP's Vintage Labels Four die template. I found that little "love" sentiment in the Get Well Labels Twenty stamp set, and trimmed it with a Charmed I'm Sure die template. The pink silk ribbon is from May Arts--ties beautifully and feels luscious! That's it for my wedding reception card. . . or it will be as soon as I finish the inside. ;-) Thanks for visiting!
Welcome! Today I have a get well card to share. The Sweet Lace Background stamp below is supposed to be today's JustRite June release set, but I had to combine it with another one of yesterday's sets, Chicken Soup Labels Four, because that soup label was just begging to be paired with the lace background--they're both about comfort, right?
Here is the Sweet Lace background. I used a dark red ink on red cardstock this time, but I'm thinking I should try it in white pigment ink on cardstock weight vellum next time. :-)
When I saw the chicken soup label, I pulled out a can of Campbell's soup from my pantry to try to get some visual cues from that. Did you know that there is a LOT of gold on a chicken soup label? I tried embossing the label in gold first and carefully coloring it with my Copic markers, but I didn't love it that way. So I restamped it in red, but cut out that spoon and mounted it on foam tape. I liked that better! Besides Spellbinders Labels Four, I also used the Gold Labels Four and Charmed I'm Sure for the tag. (Labels Four is on sale for 20% off here through June 10.)
