Welcome to day three of the JustRite Papercraft September release! Today I have a blackboard style birthday card to share using both the Birthday Wishes for You clear set and the Birthday Cake Background cling stamp, both shown below.
These are the Copic Markers that I used to color the floral ring and birthday cake. The images were stamped on white cardstock with Memento Tuxedo black ink. I used the T5 marker to color the center of the floral ring to make it visually recede into the background. I used both pink glitter and clear glitter here and there on the colored images.
Here is a close-up of that little birthday cake. I loved that image!
So, it's true confessions time: if you have ever been in a Copic Standard Certification, you've probably heard that Copic markers are fine to use with CLEAR embossing powder, but not generally with other embossing powders, whether gold, black, white, etc. I know that. But I really, really wanted to color my white embossing powder with my Copic markers, and I've seen it on other people's blogs. . . So, I tried it. See that white tip on the Copic G43 marker in the picture above? That's what comes off on the marker nib when you color over heat-set white embossing powder. So to be clear, I did it, but I'm not recommending it. :-) (Besides, I know that I can always replace the nib if it performs poorly in the future.) I do like the way it looks--just not sure that I would subject my marker nibs to white embossing powder on a regular basis!
To cut and emboss the sentiment focal image, I used a JustRite Papercraft Nested Oval Medallion Label die. To cut the card base and black background, I used a Spellbinders A-2 Curved Matting Basics A. I used a Standard Circles SM die template to cut the floral wreath piece, and then Stately Circles to mat the floral wreath. Rhinestones are from Zva Creative, and seam binding is dyed with Copic RV02 Various Inks and Colorless Blender. Whew--that's a LONG post! If you would like to see more of the Birthday Wishes for You clear set and the Birthday Cake Background cling stamp, I hope you have time to visit the blog links below. Thanks for visiting!
