Welcome! It's my second day of guest-posting for My Favorite Things, and today I chose one of the sweet new Birdie Brown stamp sets, Let's Hang Out, for my card. Isn't she a cutie? I have a soft spot for tomboys! In addition to the Let's Hang Out Die-Namics that I used to cut my focal image, I also used the largest die from Die-Namics Blueprints 15--love that stitched edge look.
Shown above are the Copic markers that I used to color the Let's Hang Out focal image. I started by coloring the denim overalls, knowing that I wanted to add texture to them. To add the denim texture, I squeezed some Copic Colorless Blender onto a scrap of denim, then placed the dampened denim on top of the already-colored overalls and tapped lightly with my fingers to ensure that the denim came into good contact with the image. I removed the denim, and there was my texture--pure magic! After the colorless blender dried for a minute or so, I was ready to color the rest of the image.
For the card inside, I again used MFT's Blueprints Die-Namics 15 to cut the Kraft layer, then stamped the Let's Hang Out focal image with MFT's Kraft Hybrid Ink pad. The sentiment is stamped with MFT's Red Hot Hybrid Ink pad.
That background was fun to color! I wasn't quite sure what I was going to do with it when I started; the tree image was large enough that if I left white space around it, it was going to pretty much fill an A-2 sized front panel. I colored the tree first, then decided to trim closely at the top and bottom, allowing room at the bottom for a stamped grass layer (MFT's Sour Apple and Jellybean Green Premium Dye Ink pads). I allowed the branch to extend at the top and right side, then trimmed closely around it. Copic markers that I used on the background images were the following:
Leaves: YG63, YG67
Tree trunk and branches: E21E25, E27
Rope: Y25
Sky: B000, B0000, 0
Tire: T1, T3, T5, T7
Thanks again to MFT Stamps; I certainly had fun playing with these sweet images!
