Welcome! I hope that you are more prepared for Christmas than I am! It's been a little nuts around here lately. . . I finally finished my watercolored cards that I'd started a few days ago. I pulled out a lovely older Papertrey Ink stamp set, Year of Flowers: Poinsettia and embossed the images on nice watercolor paper with detail white embossing powder. Next I chose some of my Distress Inks to use and started experimenting. I had noticed some beautiful poinsettias in the grocery store that morning, noting that the leaf and petal colors were sometimes variegated, with a petal being mostly red, but still green around the edges.
Since red and green are complementary/contrasting colors, I knew that I would end up with neutral mud if I let them mix much, but I thought if I could keep the edges of both colors wet and just barely let them mix, I would probably be okay. That was the challenge anyway!
This was actually my first one--the experiment for the larger panel below.
Sentiments were from Year of Flowers: Poinsettia and Think Big Favorite #9. I left the accessorizing simple--just gold cord. There wasn't much point in covering up my flowers as long as I spent painting them! :-) Well, that's it for tonight. I have a few more things to finish up before I go to bed. Okay, more than a few. . . Have a fabulous weekend!
